i agree with pretty much all of the suggestions above, but I haven't seen anyone mention Homeland yet on Showtime. I loved the first season, Claire Danes and Damian Lewis(Band of Brothers) were both outstanding in it.

Falling Skies was terrible. It got canceled because of how awful it was.

You serious? I had very, very high expectations for that show, and it let me down...big time.
The show didn't explain why the aliens were there nor did they provide any entertainment. You just watch a group of refugees walking around for half the show. Plus, the CGI is really lousy and bad.
