Haven't been on this board much lately, I gotta get over here more often but I figured I'd come over here and share this because I know there's some fishermen on here. My Grandfather decided to be an incredibly generous man, and bought me a boat yesterday. Without me knowing anything about it. 18 foot bass boat with about 3500 bucks of upgrades on it, 2 trolling motors, etc, the whole works. It's been stored since the day it was bought, so it's never been used before either. Now I can't EFFING wait to take it out this spring as soon as the lakes thaw out. Any advice from boat owners for a guy with his first boat?

dont forget the plug......you wouldnt think this would have to be said but i dont know any fisherman that hasnt made that mistake atleast once. dont forget you have a bilge pump on that one, you will need to pump it every 3 or 4 hours, or atleast you used to, i dont know how far basstrackers have come. take a bag incase anything breaks, it doesnt always happen but from time time you will find something isnt dont right (especially on the older basstrackers, again none of my family has had one in years they might very well have improved). put toiled paper in a zip lock bag and put in a storage area, you wont regret this one. will you be putting it in by yourself? if so have you ever put a boat in by yourself? can be tricky

All very good advice. I've never put a boat in by myself before, but I also don't plan on taking the boat out by myself. I don't think I'll have a problem finding a buddy to come fishin with me on it. But, with that said, I also wouldn't be surprised if I ended up taking it out by myself sometime haha

on that note, go ahead and buy an extra prop and put it in the boat.....had one FALL OFF in the middle of the lake a few years ago...do you know how embarrassing it is to get towed in by a sail boat?

I'll try to remember that. A buddy of mine really tore his up last year going over some rocks. It was real bad.
