    cam was better than Charles

Don't homer this up-- Woodson had a career, and Cam had a year.

Charles Woodson-- 2X All-American, Big Ten Freshman of the Year
    Cam Newton-- 1X All-American

Eric Berry doesn't have $hit on Don Hutson. He basically created the WR position.

Kudos to Better Off for even attempting the whole damn list. How long did that one take you? +1 anyway

If I told you I happen to have it saved on a flash drive along with my work files, you probably wouldn't believe me, but it's true.

Actually haven't updated it in a couple of years. Not sure if it would change any. Cam, Trent, and Broyles maybe the only ones I would consider, but I'm not sure if I'd add them or not.

    98- Tom Harmon (Heisman winner)

It's debatable but you can't put the Heisman as the reason he wins the argument. It's an offensive players award and if Woodson didn't do other things outside of just playing D then he wouldn't have won it either so that argument isn't valid.

Tom Harmon scored 9.9 points per game during his career (from tailback), and was the single greatest player in Michigan history.

    1939 All-American
    1940 All-American
AP Male Athlete of the Year

I'm not saying he sucked but Lawrence Taylor deserves to be in the discussion. It's one of those numbers like #2 and #32 that there isn't really one clear answer. I'm sure there are quite a few more numbers like this on the list between 1 and 99.

I agree. Harmon might deserve to go ahead of LT. Tough to take NFL careers out of the equation sometimes. If it helps, I pretty much flipped a coin on them.

Over one of the greatest football players to walk the planet?

    No.

Berry wouldn't even be in the top 4 for the number 14.

Johnny Lattner, Vinny Testeverde and Ty Detmer would be 2, 3 and 4.

Fair enough. Not even old enough, nor do I care, to attempt to understand that much of ya'll's tradition. Really good job on the list though. No knock at all for compiling the whole thing.

    Well done.

Interesting homer battles for me with Marcus Allen vs. Tony Dorsett for #33 and Derrick Thomas vs. Junior Seau for #55. All great players.

Only gripe would be Elway over Wuerfell. Elway just had zero talent around him on The Farm.

Edit also Leinart over Spurrier. Both accomplished a lot but Leinart was 37-2 with 2 NC's.

Throw in Marvin Jones at 55 as well.

Elway was right behind for me. Vick and Theisman were 7s as well.

Some more 11s. Arrington, Dan Fouts, Darrell Royal, and Andre Ware.

Tough choices on a bunch of them.

  • Couple of no brainers in here, that shouldnt even be debated.

Cam (#2) should be nowhere near Sanders/Woodson. If there was a fantasy all time football league, Sanders/Woodson would be on almost every ballot for the secondary.

Cam wouldnt have the majority of votes at his position, like those two. No disrespect to Cam, but it was only a single season.

The #88, seems obvious for Jerry Rice. He had a monster career in college.

But my #88 would be Moss. I think he had like 54-55 tds in 2 seasons.... Thats all-time all-time great, imo.

#9 is Warrick hands down. Top 2-3 wr of his generation. In college it would be a toss up between him and Moss. Better than Fitz, Dez, A. Johnson, Percy, etc. Dude was electric.

    *Homer Alert* lol

I would pick Junior Seau for #55...his number has come to represent one of the greatest honors for a defensive player at his university. The number can not be requested, it can only be awarded by the Head Coach. It will never be retired because it has come to represent a great honor, with inclusion to an exclusive fraternity at USC, "Club 55".

I like Matt at #11 as well...37-2, with the two losses for a total of 6 points. His final season, he led the offense all the way to an undefeated regular season...with basically, no defense. That offense carried the team on it's shoulders, and Matt was the undisputed leader.

I would say there should be a number of folks ahead of Warrick.

Don McPherson- won O'Brien and Maxwell. Finished 2nd for the Heisman.

Steve McNair- over 6000 yds his senior year and 53 TDs. Finished 3rd in the Heisman.

Tommy Kramer- 1st rd draft pick and member of the college HOF.

Jim McMahon- 2 time AA. O'Brien winner. #5 pick in draft. McMahon graduated with 70....yes 70 NCAA records.

Deion Sanders over Woodson all day long. No one and I mean no one had ever or has ever locked down his half od the field like Deion. Deion was also one of the best return men ever to play. Also, before Woodson's play on offense is brought up, Deion played some offense as well. The man called his shot on a punt return against Clemson for crap's sake! Deion Sanders is synonymous with cornerback, he is the guy Woodson wanted to be.

Ricky wouldn't be ahead or Herschel, Bo Jackson, or Walter Payton.
