Gulf beaches > California beaches

  • The Gulf has no waves... how can that be better? And please, don't say they do and tell me you're one of those dudes I've seen trying to body surf the 1-2 footers. I'm partial to any beach w/ waves and w/out a multitude of sharks.

Therefore, SoCal beaches are the best. Australian and HI beaches may look the best w/ the best water and the best waves... but sharks scare the livin' bejeezus outta me.

My personal favorite beach, sharks aside, is Hanalei (sp?) in HI. If you've ever been, you'll know what I mean.

  • Sound reasoning to me. I like the waves and I do not like the sharks.

Depends what you're looking for. Cali has the best surfing, but is cold. the gulf coast of florida can be gorgeous but there aren't any waves and the water can get too hot. The Florida atlantic coast has a nice mix between the two, especially near cocoa. My personal pick is Cali, but that could be because i've only been there for vacation

To each his own. I lived in Daytona Beach for about 3-4 years (just North of Cocoa Beach) and it and the Panhandle beaches are not close to me. The beaches there are brown a lot of times and the water can be very dirty. The big reason there are so may shark attacks in that part of Florida is because the water is murky and dirty.

so which beach is your favorite, sharks arent a relevant criteria to judging a beach to me because attacks are so rare. hell jelly fish should be a bigger priority

Nah, after a while you get used to the smell of raw sewage and hair gel. Just watch out for syringes on the beach. Those buggers will stick ya

Rare? Volusia County, the above county, is the "Shark Bite Capital of the World". They have been 4 shark attacks already this year since March. Wait til the Summer tourists get there. We didn't even bat an eye when the news van showed up at Ponce Inlet during the Summer.

As far as my favorite, read my post earlier in this thread. Mobile Bay, East to Apalachicola are the best beaches IMO. Destin, Florida has the fewest rivers and tributaries poring into it in that area, which makes their water generally the cleanest and clearest.

Cali sucks. Spent two years there while in service. First two weeks I was sick because of all the air pollution. Evening news full of murder and gang violence every night. Highest percentage of illegals and so on.

Went to the beach and it was brown dirt.......

The only part I enjoyed was Yosemite and San Fran. Other than that it was not worth going back to.

Australian beaches > any beach in the world. That is all.

You have to worry about killer jellyfish in Australia. That kind of mitigates the crazy hot chicks IMO.

I went to UCSD for a student conference a couple years ago and hit the beach for a few hours with friends when we got the chance.

Never saw any signs indicating it was a nude beach but 'lo and behold we get this older portly gentleman (the only guy on the beach for several hundred yards) to take a picutre of me and some friends. About 5 minutes later he took off his pants and was full nude.

3 minutes later some guy in his 60s is walking down the beach full nude too. Was pretty bad.

  • Spanish beaches are the best. Beautiful sea, great water that is perfect for snorkeling. You can have a beer with your shirt off at a bar right there. And spend all night in the club then have a really good time.

Alabama is the best at everything just like every other thread.

If you had ever spent time here, you'd have said that with a lot less cynicism.

Spent some time on Mallorca. I loved it there. To anyone interested in visiting, be prepared for one of the few tourist spots I know of where it's tough to find someone who speaks English.
