Of course it's not acceptable for us to kill other humans. But it is generally acceptable to kill tress, and we a humans do so everyday. However, it is not okay to kill trees that belong to someone else without their permission. If you decide to do so you should be punished, but jail isn't the appropriate punishment, it's a draconian punishment when considering the crime.
