No, I was just talking about teams that came into the season ranked top 3 and then face planted.

began the season ranked preseason top 3 and finished the season with a losing record?

In 2000, Alabama was preseason #3 and finished 3-8!

USC's 7-6 season was bad enough, I can't imagine what a collapse like 3-8 must have been like for Alabama. That's horrible.

Any other school roll over like the Tide's embarrassing 3-8 season or is Alabama's 2000 season the worst on record all-time for a team that started ranked top 3?

I don't know what your obsession with Alabama is, but your posts are getting pretty old. Alabama was over-ranked in 2000 and underachieved. So what. Big deal. But as far as teams being over-ranked, USC tops the cake. Since 1989 USC has been over-ranked in the preseason poll 14 times. Their cumulative poll movement is -97 positions for -97 points. The only team that has been over-ranked more than USC is Oklahoma (by only a half point). Notre Dame made up 20 points this year but is still one of the most over-ranked teams. FWIW Alabama has been consistently under-ranked, and has a cumulative poll movement of +30.5 points.

Nice list. Don't sell yourself short, I see Alabama has some fine company there on the most underrated list
Maryland, BC, Washington St, Kansas, Ole Miss, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Alabama.

USC will just hang around with the rest of the elite programs over the last 25 years who are on the overrated
list = Oklahoma, Texas, Florida St, Nebraska, Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, LSU.

    Yup, you really showed me.

I'd give Alabama a little more credit than being at the same level as teams like Kansas and Washington St,
but who am I to argue if that's what those rankings you like so much say.
Man, looks like total mediocrity and suckville if you are a team that has been consistently under-ranked and are on that list like Alabama is. Excellent research.

Or it's just we've always had a biased media who hates us. Ala 1966 championship taken away from us after being undefeated the previous season and National Champs. And we've only had 1 Heisman winner. The media has notoriously hated us until recently and I love that.

You know what sucks? For Trojan fans, I mean. Currently, they're not even the real USC right now. Now that has got to suck. What a booger athletic program they are right now.

While you continue your search, your season has no peers. Never, I say NEVER, has a preseason BCS number 1 finished out of the top 25.

At least we had the good sense to get rid of our dolt, even if he had won a conference championship. You guys have kept your nimrod. I guess that is ok since he won....wait what the hell has he won?

Think you guys should change your motto to "Google on" because "Fight on" just doesn't seem apropos after this...

LMAO at all you Bama fans mad at history. I got no problem with saying USC sucked this year. Cuz its the truth, not 3-8 suck, but still sucked.

And yet I ask a simple question - which is ....

    - Is Alabama's 2000 season the worst ever in the history of college football for a team that started ranked top 3?

So far Bama's 3-8 season is the worst. Maybe someone has done worse?

Real 3rd grade-ish to get all mad at history, Bammers. Hey, at recess lets play smear the queer. From the tone of the responses ITT, I will have dozens of people to tackle.

no, what's even more third gradish, is that fact you researched this to actually post it.

    This is sad

I actually feel bad for the guy. The 2012 Trojans were hyped more than Tyson vs Holyfield and just like the match, USC's regular season also ended in round 3. I mean seriously, can you imagine having to hear for 7 straight months that you had the baddest team on the planet, then you watch them lose by 9 to a team that Alabama treated like school kids the following game? That would be rough on anyone...

I'm just happy we sucked back in 2000, otherwise, this guy would definitely be on suicide alert...
