We all have real high expectations for Redd, but I don't expect him to get near the carries someone like Coker would. I think 15-20 touches a game would be good for Redd. At the moment it looks like Beachum (coming off an injury season) will be the backup. He's a good compliment to Redd as he is more an in between the tackles runner. He should be a solid contributor, while some have high expectations for him. Stephfon Green should be the number 2, but he seems to be having some problems (off the field) at the moment and his immediate future is a little unclear. He's been a steady performer the last three years in the 2 role, and is a quality backup. The backs, including two solid fullbacks, are probably one of our strongest units.

  • Add Knile Davis to man list . Knile will be 20 in October. He is 6' 230, benches 430 and runs a sub 4.4 forty .

Running Back Marcus Coker, future Doak Walker Award Winner.

One more thing worth noting about Coker is that he's very intelligent. That kid's an Astrophysics majors. There aren't too many D1 starting RB's that are Astrophysics majors.

Fast forward to the 3:00 mark to hear him talk about it in this video:

  • Even though I think you all know these facts I will state them anyways.

    Trent Richardson
Bench-480(Could have done more but S&C coach said no)
Squat-600+ (NarionD will know the exact number when he checks this thread later)
    Power Clean-375+ (Same as above^)

That guy is pretty beast though OP. Gonna def be up for awards in his future.

He's ripped. If he gets hurt, you guys are screwed though. I've never seen a team have a run of attrition at RB like Iowa has the past 2 years. That sucks for you guys.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

It reminds me a lot of '08. There were actually probably more question marks in '08 because Shonn Greene had been at JuCo for the whole '07 school year and there were all kinds of rumors about what kind of shape he was in. He stepped up huge, set the school record for rush yards, and won the Doak; things kind of worked out. Hopefully things work out again this year with Coker et al.

  • Trent get clocked at 4.29? Arkansas gets to play and stop the other 2 Sec backs that have for some reason been the preseason media darlings. Knile led all Sec rushers not named Newton last year and most have him behind Lattimore and Richardson.

Btw , Dyer is the most overrated back in the nation.

Jim Harris in Hoover: Ten Minutes With Arkansas Running Back Knile Davis - ArkansasSports360.com

Striving that's a word you notice regularly with Davis when he talks about preseason recognition and post-season honors. He says he's always striving simply to get better, and for the team to win. It sounds cliche around this time when the SEC brings in 12 coaches and 36 players to talk about the upcoming season, but with Davis it sounds genuine.

Actually, you are close on Trent's squat as I've heard 600 as well. I think it was one of those "you are too damn strong for your own good.....and we are not allowing you to go any higher for fear of injury" on the squat.

...My point is that TR is freak-nasty strong. Probably the strongest player in the nation "pound for pound".

  • Most College RBs, DBs, and WRs have "elite"/ "freak" physiques as they typically have high muscle density and low bodyfat. So I wouldn't consider many of the guys listed in this thread to be real "freaks". I'm 36, and my body "LOOKS" like I'm a freak.....but I can't come close to doing that I could do athletically 10 years ago and hence, athletically, my "freak" days are done.

A "true" freak is like Bo Jackson or Herschel Walker as they were guys at 6'1", 225-230 pounds that were the fastest players on their team and the strongest. My top 2 guys in college football that fall in this category as they are top 5 on their team in strength [which is usually reserved for offensive and defensive lineman and "perhaps" an ILB]......and they are top 5 on their team in speed [which is usually the scatback or the fleet WR or CB that weighs 175-190.]

The only 2 guys that I can think of right now that fall in this category of being "Freaks"
-Knile Davis (3rd fastest 40 yard dash for Arky and 4th in the bench press), 6'0", 230 pounds
-Trent Richardson (about 4th-5th in the 40 yard dash for Bama and probably 4th-5th in the Bench Press), 5'11", 224 pounds

***It's no a coincidence that these 2 guys are currently projected to be top 2 RBs selected in the 2012 NFL Draft as they have crazy size/speed ratios...and this ratio is a key factor for NFL Scouts in grading RBs.

***I think Arkansas may have more legit "hand-timed" sub 4.4 guys than Bama by a "small" margin but Bama definitely has more strength as the highest bench at Arky in the Spring was 470 while Bama has 4-5 guys benching over 500, including a true freshmen, Isaac Luatua, that benched 535 pounds***

Can't believe I'm admitting this in public....but I'm excited to see this guy play. My younger brother was watching the Under Armour practice back in January and he called me and told me I needed to see this dude. Said it looked like they'd allowed an NFL dude to practice with high school kids and it really wasn't fair.

Looking forward to seeing him do work in all games except the Bama game.

No, but Trent did run a 4.35 recently and he finished 5th in the Florida 3A 100 Meter Dash (10.73 PR) Finals in 2008 in a race that was won by Jeff Demps. Florida is no doubt the fastest state in the nation for high school athletes. Trent also won the State Weightlifting Championship for the 219 pound weightclass in 2009. Dude was benching 380 pounds in high school.

I have mad respect for Knile Davis. Many on BOL don't like the fact that I say from my perspective, he and Trent are virtually "even" right now in my eyes and the 2011 season and the 2012 NFL Combine will determine which will be the top RB selected.

They have similar size, speed, strength measureables....and both are "elite" in my opinion. Physically in terms of "measureables", both are comparable to Adrian Peterson and Darren McFadden and just a shade below the all-time freaks of Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson, who were elite NCAA sprinters as collegiates in addition to being All-American RBs.

Trent Richardson wins Florida state weightlifting title...

    Trent Richardson... getting huge!

  • No doubt Trent is worthy of his praise . Its just hard for the Razorback Nation to sit quiet and not speak up for Knile. I mean cmon dude led the league in rushing (Runningbacks) and really wasnt a feature back until the midway point last year. Anybody remember when Dmac made his move? Knile and Dmac had similar numbers in their breakout seasons except Knile got his in a couple less games. Also a compairson with Dmac is their age. Both were 19 turning 20 as Juniors. Dmac never ran a 4.29 in front of pro scouts though.....

Sorry to hijack a thread but any talk about freak Running backs without Knile Davis being mentioned is just silly!
