Heisman race historic, and maybe historically close

  • TAMUWolverine said...

He is a great player, everyone admits that but there's a difference between a great player and legitimate Heisman winner. Also, you didn't answer my questions...

let's see how the voters vote...
sorry teacher that I did not answer your question.
the defensive leader on the #1 team in the country, that got voted the best LB in the country makes me not question why he's one of the 3 finalist.

He won the Butkus, so whether we agree or not, by definition he is the best LB in the country. His teammate Nix has better stats than he does, but the Butkus committee felt that he is the best.

Do domers really believe that Teo is worthy of winning the Heisman? Do they believe he's the best defensive player in the country? Hell, he's not even the best player on that D.

Yeah it would be crazy to think he is the best defensive player in the country.

How does Nix have better stats than Te'o?

He ranks top 50 in 1 stat and that's INT's... If you we're starting a D, who would you pick, Clowney, Jones or Teo?

Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong player. I don't want to get into this pissing contest, Teo is a great player.

That is true, a Heisman winner is most often a qb or rb, sometimes a wr. With one exception it is an award based on offensive production. That does not mean the winner is the best player in the nation....unless you believe only one time in the last 77 years has a defensive player been the best player in the nation.

That's tough. I'd probably go with Clowney.

I agree that it's historically been an offensive award and that it doesn't always go to the nations best player regardless of position. I do believe that it's easier for a QB, RB or WR to win the Heisman because of the impact that they make on the game versus a defensive player. That's why I disagree about Teo being in the Heisman discussion. I don't think an ILB can have a Heisman level impact on a game, the same way that Manziel has at QB. An ILB just doesn't have as many opportunities in a game to make an impact like a QB or RB. I do believe that Teo is an AA, a great role model and the top ILB, I just don't think he's the top overall D player. He will succeed in the NFL and most likely be a perennial Pro-Bowler.

Learn how to read idiot, I said it was the wrong player. You're the one I'm going to call out the most when Manziel wins the Heisman. You call me out for making a mistake, after your OP is is linked to garbage.

Dude, chill out a bit. Teo is a hell of a player and there is no need to get in a pissing match. He's standing up for his teams player just like we would for Johnny.

Read my post a little bit up the page. I agree about Teo being good and I gave Teo compliments. Irishyoung420 just has something stuck up his a$$ or maybe he doesn't(maybe that's the problem). shrug

Absolutely Te'o. A great team leader and a great middle linebacker. Clowney and Jones are great pass rushers. There are many great pass rushers. Are they the leaders of their teams? How many great defenses are built around their pass rushing specialist? Te'o far and away has the most ints of any linebacker in the nation. He is second in the nation among linebackers for passes defended.

How many categories does Jones rank in the top 50? If that is the parameter, then Shazier is better than all of them.
