This is somewhat the practice that is in place to an extent. The government does need to follow through and make sure that anyone here illegally is being sent back if they are found guilty of any crimes, that's for sure, but I welcome those that are willing to come here and sacrifice themselves for the next generation of their family. That is all any of our ancestors did at one point.

The cheap labor is a plus, for sure. Most people want people out of the country for their own racist agendas, but would be terrified to see what would happen to the economy if we were forced to attempt to fill a lot of these jobs with Americans. They use taxes, insurance, and the such as an excuse, but don't realize, most immigrant workers are paying taxes and are trying to stay and support the new country in which they live. It is a small minority of them that are just here to send money back to their native countries.

I dont think cheap labor helps the economy...the more cheap illegal labor that's available, the less jobs of that sort are available for uneducated, existing citizens.

Because if they had the right to do that it creates a "slippery slope"

Maybe they should also go door to door to perform criminal background checks in your neighborhood?

Or maybe the government should send the IRS to every home to audit taxes.

Maybe when you are at work, the local police officer may decide to stop by your house and "visit" your wife?

And eventually the government could come to your house to ask what your political affiliation is and encourage you to move from your home if you aren't a democrat (or republican, etc.)

We live in America not Syria, we have fundamental civil rights that make things like this illegal.

Why are the people that constantly extoll the freedom of America (i.e. "Conservatives"), always rationalizing ways for America to limit people's freedom?

You bring up a good point about the IRS. That's random. Citizenship checks could be random. I wouldn't care if they came to my door......

Tell me again why it is wrong for the government to go from house to house every few years and ask for proof of citizenship?

It depends on what you mean by "wrong". The Fourth and Fifth Amendments prohibit unreasonable searches and seizures and provide protections against self incrimination. Those protections were put in place to limit the government's ability to abuse its power through intimidation and harassment of its citizens. Generally, those protections require a reasonable suspicion of illegal activity before we permit a person or his home to be searched. And that determination generally must be made by a judge (ie a court order). Would you be happy if the police could knock on your door and question you and search your home whenever they wanted for signs of illegal activities or contraband? And effectively require you to prove that you are not breaking the law? If the police can do it in the context of questioning your citizenship, presumably they can do it for almost anything else. Be careful what you wish for.

Yes. It is both. I am in my phone and edited it. Both the Fourth and Fifth apply. You should not be open to random searches and should not be put in a position where you have the burden to prove you are doing nothing wrong. The government has the burden.

Unfortunately this statement is incorrect for the most part. I worked on a farm throughout high school and college, and my boss always was willing to hire whites, blacks, et cetera. But after a day in the field, they always quit. It never failed, they just couldn't do the job like the Hispanics.

While I'm all for giving Americans job over foreigners, if I had a company that needed 300 blue collar workers, you can probably guess which race I would hire.

That sounds expensive. I hope my tax money doesn't have to pay for a big government project like that.

It also sounds stupid as hell.

It's a slippery slope as someone said before. First it's checking about citizenship, then it's drugs etc.

The reason these jobs are available is because no one wants to fill them.

The wage scale isn't going to go up based on who is working I can assure you that.

Man that was easy. Forming an argument on a complex economic situation would have been so much harder. By calling people racist and moving on, you saved yourself all of the hassle of a factual debate. I can learn a lot from this post.

    Well why is it then?

The common response "they are stealing our jobs" is a joke.

Companies hire more qualified people, so if an illegal is "stealing your jobs" that's a you problem.

this is all the fruits of freedom.

we are free to spend the money we have earned in any manner we choose.

would you rather have them sending the money back to take care of their families or would you rather have their families here?

    rassiss's

A lot of these people are sending the money home to secure their lifestyle so they can go home and never work again, others send their money home to expedite the arrival of their families to the U.S. Increasing the strain on an already bankrupt welfare system. It takes generations for one illegal family to begat economic supportive citizens meanwhile taxing the already taxed Americans to death. This is not rasist it is a fact.

I have no problem with hard working responsible people wanting to come here, make a better life for themselves and help build on what was started by our ancestors that arrived the same way but IMO the very least they could do is spend a small portion of the vast amounts of money being shipped outside our country on English lessons the way our folks had to do when they arrived.

I do not know every single Mexican immigrant in the U.S but I run construction work all over the country and have been for 40 years, have overseen the work of thousands, stayed in hotels where the maids work, eat at restaurants where the servers work and I speak pretty good Spanish and pay attention to what they talk about. Also ran a lot of work in the border towns where you hear about this stuff daily, they are constantly interviewing these people mostly during marches or rally's when they feel their rights are infringed upon. It would do you some good to just shut up, sit back and listen to others (especially your elders) and a smart assed young punk like your self may learn a thing or two as my generation did.

Welfare system isn't bankrupt, and "Hispanics" only account for 17% of welfare recipients.

Since most states have strict citzenship requirments for food stamps or other assistance, I don't understand your "fact" that illegals stress the "welfare" system.

Rednecks and poor black people stress the welfare system 100 times more than "illegals"

    But "rednecks" are republicans right?

No way they take advantage of that.

Not true, the whole entire Government is on the verge of bankruptcy, if not for our ability to print what has become world currency at will we would already be there. There are businesses up and running in the U.S. now that for a fee shows them how to take advantage of the system. I am pretty sure that the system is for American citizens no matter what color your neck is and even most of them paid taxes at one time or another. Just for the record I am not talking about Hispanic American citizens.
