Herbstreit got a local Columbus radio host fired

  • devidee said...

The local radio guy has no power whatsoever to get Desmond Howard fired.

Herbie can't fire the local guy. The local guy learned that if youre gonna bully someone, dont pick on people bigger than you.

You don't know anything about the guy and his history with Ohio State.

  • Sounds like radio guy and herbie are typical buckeyes. Therefore, may they continue to dwell in the sewer in which they reside.

    What's a "typical Buckeye"?

Espn CFB coverage is truly a joke.. I mean. Lou Holtz? He's a homer and brings nothing, same with Mark May. I cant believe these are the best they can get to cover the best sport in the world. Unreal

Im with you Les: +1 sir. You mean Dr Lou? No way should he be on any panel except for either South Carolina or
Notre Dame. Ok, Mark May? I like him. Coach Corso? I'm afraid his time has come. I hate it but he is gonna have to go after this season. Kirk Hetstreit? Ehhhh, naaaaaa.

  • I find mark may hilarious in that he is a professional troll. You can see it in his face when he talks.

And I frequently troll my friends IRL.

  • If he left it at "fired", he himself wouldnt be in hot water. The "or die" part is crossing the line.

  • Herbstreit is one of the few solid analysts on ESPN. I know he's also a nice guy having had a couple of conversations with him.

I can see him standing up for a colleague but I think the having a the guy fired is devidee BS. It's not Herbstreit's style.

  • i could understand him being fired for putting something on the company twitter, but this was his personal twitter. The worst part is herbie going on the air and saying "with all desmond and his family had to go through". What on earth did they have to go through?!?!?! Its a joke tweet from a shockjock in your arch rivals hometown!!!

Herbie is an adulterous toolbag who puts blame to the 2% crazy osu fans.. instead of the real reason... inability to keep it in his pants.

Desmond Howard can't put two sentences together in a competent manner.

Saying the guy is awful isn't crazy. It's honest.

Apparently you haven't listened to Joey Galloway. That guy defines awful.

Note to those in the broadcast industry: don't wish death on others, or otherwise write checks with your mouth that your ass can't cover.

Saying that you hope a person dies on the radio is absolutely grounds for getting fired. It's tasteless, immature and just a ridiculous thing to say.

Herbie is one of the few Bucks I respect, guy just seems to get it IMO. He puts his fanship for the Bucks behind other more important things in life.

That being said those "skeletons" you speak of I have no idea so I could be wrong.

He tweeted it, I believe. I don't think he said it on the air.

Ohio state fans seem to treat the guy like crap. Didn't he have to move out of state because of tosu fans harassing his family? Classless.

Everyone I know that has met him has said he's a very nice guy.

He is a fake Buckeye according to them. They ran him out of town and he moved to Nashville. OSU fans treat him like crap without question.

    Hamilton Lion

  • no one ran herbie out of town.... fans werent randomly approaching him or his family.

Herbie goes out of his way to be overly critical of the university and then falls back on his "but im a buckeye!" stance. He is the only person who dropped us 3 spots in their final poll after we beat Arkansas.. he routinely blasted TP and tress well before tatgate. He said on air he would "never let his son play in a jim tress offense" a year before we posted a Heisman winner. He lambasted the program during the Alamo bowl... Even with his move he blamed it on Ohio State fans when everyone and their dog knew he was screwing around town.

I agree when they called herbie a "fake @ss Buckeye" ...

The radio "guy" is Scott Torgerson and he is not tOSU alum. He isn't even from Ohio. For the record, there is bad blood between him and Herbie. Usually when you call a former captain a "fake buckeye" over the Cols air, it will cause tension. BTW, TP is credited for this term & can GET away with it. But not some nobody radio personality with zero ties to the program or university. Tweeting ignorance about Des was the final straw.

Then again, who in Cols doesn't have a strong opinion about Herbie. Coming from Dayton, I am of the opinion Herbie bleeds Scarlet and Gray. Maybe I am biased tho.

Oh yeah, Espn doesn't own WBND - 97.1. The Wolfe family does. Herbie & the Torg are both employees of the Wolfe family.

I am betting Herbie stays on........ Go Bucks!!!

So, he can't blast TP? TP deserved to be blasted, especially with some of his comments. The kid was a turd and still is. He was all about TP.

He dropped you three spots in the final poll because he knew OSU was allowed to play ineligible players. He knew OSU doesn't beat Arkansas without TP and crew. If Delaney didn't arrange that sweetheart of a deal that allowed OSU to play ineligible players against Arkansas, OSU loses. I would have dropped them three at least, even in victory. They shouldn't have been in that game in the first place.

Seriously, if your son has any sort of offensive flair, would you have allowed him to play for Tressel, if you truly cared about your son? Hell no. Don't lie either.

If I were Herbie, I would have blasted OSU for going to that ridiculous bowl last year versus Florida. Neither deserved to go to a bowl based on the lousy play.

So, an OSU grad has to toe the company line regarding OSU when its his job to be critical? Stop.

Who needs facts when you are working with that ^ logic.

Maybe in 2010 he should have dropped Auburn for playing Cam. But, but that would mean he could prove something that the rest couldn't. Or maybe he just "knew".

my crystal ball says..... Kirk holds tOSU to a higher standard. Probably, maybe.
