Yes, he has a HUGE following in the south. People like him because he isn't acting and comes from similar roots like most of us. He actually worked his ass off and made something of himself. We (conservatives) really like how he doesn't spew political garbage everytime he opens his mouth... he talks like us.

Conservative-Rep. Liberal-Dems. Republicans are lobbyist for firms that are based in commodities and insurance. Democrats are lobbyist for firms that are based in construction and retail. Republicans want whites and the wealthy to think that they are in the fight for them. Democrats want blacks and the middle class to think that they are in the fight for them. Depending on where your firm is positioned, I suggest you vote accordingly. If you work for the federal, state, or local gov., I do not think that it matters, one way or the other. At that point, you need the best man for the job.

  • Too lazy to read this thread right now but as of now my vote will go to Cain. He should be feeling pretty good right now because the media is currently attacking him. Essentially validating his chances. He's been asked about these harassment lies more than Barack has even been challenged on anything personal. Even his association with radical Islamists.

True and luckily it will go better for the nation this time. The reason Obama never really said anything during his campaign was because all he had to do was keep his mouth shut and reverse-racism/hate for Bush was the tidal wave he could body board in on.

I would agree. The more simple the platform, the better off he was.

  • Just donated to the campaign and yes, he very much has a shot. If he manages to pull off the nomination, he will crush Obama in the general and more importantly his ideas can really help the country. His 9-9-9 plan is just the first phase with the Fair Tax following it up (no federal income tax of any kind). 80% of large corporations polled (500) would open their next factory in the US. The remaining 20% would immediately move their HQ to the US. It will take more than just electing Cain to make this happen, but it is a start.

Personally, I think you could put the Pope in office and it would not make a difference for jobs or the economy if gas and health insurance remain priced high. The avg household went from approximately $120 a month in gas to $440 a month. Health insurance for a family went from approximately $160 a month to $560. That is a $720 per household of spendable income that vanished, and all of the politicians are pretending that they do not know what is wrong with the economy.

Dont you freakin dare say Bush sucked and not make sure to use a higher degree word for Obama. Obama and his administration seem to literally be doing the opposite of what the nation needs at every turn.

I am not part affiliated either. I know what history has proven out and I feel like certain things are painfully obvious but this regime is so puppeteered by lobbyists and etc its mind numbing. I don't know how folks get so mad at Obama, he is nothing. He says what he is told and makes nary a decision. They should have just hired an actor with a great speaking voice.

Slow your roll Seminole. I gave my opinion as to how/why Obama got elected. Bush did suck. Personally I think he's a decent human being and seems far more likable out of office than he was in. Ultimately he botched the war and veered away from conservative thought.

A higher degree word for PBO? Let me think on it but for now I'll stick with he sucks like a flea on an elephant's ass.

  • Every person will view each in their own light. It's not the die-hard republicans or the die-hard democrats that will win the next election. It will be the independents.

I am of the belief that Obama's term has carried far more negative publicity than positive. When people vote, they look into the very near future - but look a lot further back.

"What has X party/X candidate done for me?"

"What will Y party/Y candidate do for me?"

Each party has their majority that cannot be swayed. They're not the key. It is, and always has been, about the middle. And right now - I think that majority has a bad taste in their mouth. They'll want a new taste, just like they did in '08.

  • To the OP, no chance Cain wins the nomination. Has anyone with a tax background actually read his tax plan? It's a joke. Conservatives are unlucky not to have a surefire candidate this regime because of the negative feeling about the Obama administration. I see Obama getting reelected based on a lack of a good challenger (similar to Kerry/Bush 2004).

There are a bunch of debateable things that need to be addressed but if you dont back the following going forward, drink bleach.....

    1. Flat tax. 20% to be an American citizen. Consequently redo the tax code paring it down to around 25 pages. Eliminate insane entitlements and tax breaks for companies that got them by buying politicians.

    2. Lower taxes on small businesses. Nothing crazy but send a message that America is pro-small business.

    3. SLIGHTLY raise tariffs. Again, nothing that will incite riots but send a message that we are pro-American made products. A ton of foreign stuff must be bought though so you don't want to price Americans out of a bunch of life items. Could literally be a 1/5th of a percent, just symbolic.

    4. Address the oil price situation. I realize there are likely a TON of 50,000 dollar handshakes going on about this in Washington to keep the status quo but someone needs to win this battle for the American people. I guarantee you all it would take to get us 2.00 gas is someone in a certain position of power turning down a summer home in the Caribbean off the books.

    5. The illegal alien issue must be addressed. Our health care system can not handle smokers, obese, and free loading illegals. Smoking is under attack thank goodness, the obese you just have to pray away, so that leaves illegals. Amnesty should be offered to those working on average 30+ hours a week for the previous two years or something like that. Make some form of bottleneck where everyone must register. I'd hate to levy it on them but make it where you have to show proof of citizenship to pay your wheel tax. Illegals wont go, within a year they get pulled over. They get audited for criteria decided upon and most likely deported.

The US gives amnesty to 20 million and 15 million get deported. 20 million that remain have to get on the freaking grid.

    6. Invest in border protection. More drones, more boots on the ground, more intel personnel.

What I am trying to get you to see is every politician is a puppet (actor) for whatever firm their party is supporting. Republicans-commodities/insurance. Democrats-construction/retail. It does not matter what name is on the back of the jersey; it is the name on the front of the jersey that counts. It is even that way in sports. Politics is a team sport.

  • The politicians are in the game to convince us, the people, to vote for their team so their party can adjust the economy to suit their firms.

I agree with all of that. It is basically what I said drawn out further. However, that is what needs to be done. Politicians do not give a rats a$$ about what needs to be done. They will play games with us on needs, and once they are in office, they will only work to make the business environment for the firms that their party supports more cushy. Politics have never been for the betterment of the people and it never will be. Politics are for big business. True, the people will benefit in different ways, but it will be because of a residual affect.

  • OP I don't think Cain will win the nomination, by the end I think Romney will squeak by him. That said I think Cain may keep it close for awhile.

Now if my prediction comes true I think Romney is a slam dunk for the Oval Office. He is not extreme either way, so he won't scare off independents but he is different enough from Obama that he will also be able to capitalize on the disdain for Obama.

Also in the general election there would not be much the Dems could throw at Romney, other than "Romney Care" and then they have to be careful, because they can only go so far with it before it looks like they are criticizing Obamacare too.

    If:

Romney wins GOP nom=Romney slam dunk for WH
Cain wins GOP nom=toss up for WH

Religion has been, and will continue to be, a point of emphasis in campaigning against Romney.

There again the Dems have to be careful. They are after all supposed to be the party of "acceptance", so they claim.

Also the only people that really care about the Mormon thing are Southern Baptist and if he is the nominee then they would have already supported him. So that leaves the secularist, most of who will vote Dem no matter what so they are not much of a factor. Besides Romney is in no way overly religious.
