  • This is a great signing all the way around. Chief hasn't traditionally been considered a recruiter whether he was at Tennessee or LSU, but he's really put some work in on Herron & a few other kids that we're going after on a regional & national basis. Very impressed with him.

    Herron has legitimate measurables to come out of HS & contribute early. I had heard he was lighter than the 254 number. If that's the case, then he needs to redshirt a year and put on some weight. If the 254 number is accurate, I'm interested to see whether that's "good weight" for starters. If it is, this kid is an absolute specimen.

    I'm also wondering if the 254 number is accurate as a HS senior-to-be what this kid will be at come Fall, & what Moffitt can do to him in a RS year. I'm curious as to whether we might have another Michael Brockers development arc on our hands. Talented, tall Defensive End that puts on great weight & ends up inside, able to use wingspan, footwork & quickness to shed blocks, hold at the point of attack with leverage, and completely disrupt blocking schemes on the interior offensive line.

  • I've always said that I think Herron could be that tweener DE/DT players like Brockers became once Moffit puts the muscle and good weight on him. If he is truly 6'6" 254 right now and moving in that 4.7 40 range than I think he can make the move and be a terror on the inside a few years down the road.

    I'm not sure how I put those numbers in there. He's 6-5 235 or so. I have more thoughts on him from camp that I'll pass on when I'm not driving.

  • thanks Barton I had seen different outlets give different numbers about his weight over the last fews months (from 220-245) but if was at 254 that was going to be a huge increase from what we had been hearing.

    Id actually like to see him put on that weight his senior year and be available for that tweener roll.
