Hey Obama

  • You can't force the Catholic hospitals to do abortions, and while we're at it, tell your peeps to pay that 834k they owe in back taxes. Freaking hypocrite.

So you think all those government employees just decided to quit paying taxes in the last 3 years? I don't.

And who is forcing anybody to do anything? Provide a link. Here's what I found:

"A contentious battle between Catholic groups and the Obama administration has flared in recent days, fueled by the new health-care law and ongoing divisions over access to abortion and birth control.

The latest dispute centers on a decision by the Department of Health and Human Services in late September to end funding to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to help victims of human trafficking, or modern-day slavery. The church group had overseen nationwide services to victims since 2006 but was denied a new grant in favor of three other groups.

The bishops organization, in line with the church’s teachings, had refused to refer trafficking victims for contraceptives or abortion. The American Civil Liberties Union sued, and HHS officials said they made a policy decision to award the grants to agencies that would refer women for those services."

  • FYI - it's not "doing abortions." It's offering employees health care benefits that include birth control, sterilization and, yes, medicine that induces abortions.
As a Catholic, there are a lot of things about the Catholic church that I find archicic, and it's policy on birth control is one of them.

  • Obama needs to be re-elected because it helps me. I have a lot of oil company stock and he has kept gas prices above three dollars a gallon better than Bush. Allowing the export gas from America was a great move to keep prices rising. Thank you Prez!

have you read humane vitae? The views of birth control, contraception, etc are not archaic by any means. I honestly thought the exact same thing until i actually looked into why the Catholic Church views birth control the way they do.

Of course, if you have read it, and still feel the same way, then to eaxch his/her own. After i read it, my views completely changed because i was actually informed about the views.

Dude, the best way to spread the faith is keeping the 'faithful' breeding. They're not going to change that.

And personally, I support Obama's move. But then again I'm pro-choice.

I don't feel like writing a big summary, you can google info on it if you want, but i will say that the notion of that the Catholic Church is not in favor in certain forms of birth control is wrong. The Catholic Church teaches natural forms of birth control (natural family planning) that are just as effective as taking a pill and/or using a condom.

Me and the wife use the Creighton Model of birth control where we chart her fertility based on her mucus pukeface. We have sex on the days where she is infertile and abstain on fertile days. Don't know the exact %, but if followed correctly it is more effective than pills.

I've heard of all of those methods and they are not as effective as the pill, but they are close.

The pill is something like 99% effective when taken at the same time every day.

Methods like that are something like 95% when done correctly.

If that works for you and your wife, that's great. I'm Catholic too but I'm also not naive enough to think that millions of high school kids are either going to a) abstain from having sex or b) monitor their mucus every month. I support birth control because I want to prevent the spread of STDs.

I thought i remembered hearing a # higher than 95, but i'll defer to you. I don't remember what our teacher said exactly, but i know it's a very high %

I understand the 1st part, but only condoms prevent STD's. And. i'm not naive enough to think teens are going to use condoms on a regular basis.

It just boils down to two different schools of thought. To each his/her own.

The government has no place telling the Catholic Church how to handle health care, and the Supreme Court agrees. Here's what James Madison has to say:
"There is not a shadow of right in the general government to intermeddle in religion. Its least interference with it would be a most flagrant usurpation."? James Madison
