Early on, I think 2014 could be one of the best classes nationally as we've seen in a while. It seems like almost every state is going to be "up" for 2014. Should be a really fun year.

Rarely am I looking forward to the following year this early but I'm already looking forward to the 2014 class.

Agree with this, though 2013 certainly is better than 2012, which was not good IMO.

What do you know about Jarrad Davis? I don't know much about him but it seems Auburn and Tenn would accept a commitment from him at anytime.

Very athletic player from a school that produces talent. We like him.

  • What do you guys know about Anthony Siciliano, 2014 prospect? He has some pretty damn good freshmen film, but think he had to sit sophomore year as a transfer. He is only 5'10 or so, but could possibly grow a few inches. He is supposedly visiting PSU for the Blue/White game.

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

  • Awesome, way to jump in JC with all those answers.

It does look like 2014 is fairly deep so far.

I focused on him quite a bit at the Army combine and felt he was plenty explosive. If I were SC I would offer him over both Mitchell (too small, great player though) and maybe even Stringfellow.

This is one of the many times I have seen you comment on a players size and I don't really understand your concern with size for a lot of these players. I find it silly to comment on someones size when they are still JRs in highschool. In fact, the players that are bigger and look more mature at an early age are the ones that usually bust later on when the competition catches up to their size

Also, it isn't like Mitchell is 5'5" and 130. You have him listed at 5'10" 180 and will probably add weight in the next 2 to 5 years. How many great players have there been at that size - I would say a lot. There have been hundreds and hundreds of great college players and NFLs that would be considered undersized. The most explosive player in CFB next year will be 5'8" and a 170 soaking wet - De'Anthony Thomas.

Ohio State, Alabama battle IMO. If USC was having a bigger class they'd be in there too.

He's a name to watch IMO. Not ready to call him one of the elite arms out there.

I think you're looking at it wrong. No one is saying that you can't be a big-time prospect and be 5-10. If he was 6-1 and could do the things that he does, he'd be probably be a five-star. Does that mean a 5-10 WR can't be a 5-star talent? no. it's harder to do though.

A player's size is part of the equation. All JC is doing is mentioning what advantages other receivers have over him - size being one. So no one is trying to say that he's not going to be a great player. Quite the opposite. We've got him as the No. 11 WR in the country.

Some people get hung up on criteria we use for arguments and forget that we're using that criteria to split hairs among the best of the best in the entire country, not to say a player sucks.

    Leo fournette Bo Scarborough

    Bama, don't answer this question

When healthy I like Scarborought just a little bit better. Fournette is a beast though. I hope he doesn't get too big.

  • Staff another 2014 Backer that is getting heavy interest from Ohio State and Auburn is Dante Booker out of Akron St. Vincent St. Mary.

Kid had a monster year racking up something like 140 tackles and recently had a nice Nike Sparq performance. Just curious to get your take on him?

Thank you, this thread is awesome.

Barton or Steve, what are your thoughts on Kizer(2014 QB out of Ohio), do you think he could be the top player in the state for 2014? Also, what about Chance Stewart, how would you rate his game and how would you compare him to Kizer? Thanks in advance.

Bump. I'd like to hear an answer on this as well

    OSU over Michigan and Texas?

very curious to see him say that. Especially considering Ohio is done with their own state, no more 4*'s for them to get there, the fact that they took two 3*'s on their "biggest recruiting weekend ever!", and the fact that 5* WR Robert Foster has dropped them.

Who are these 5* studs they are going to get? They have zero shot at Sua Cravens. He's all USC.

Joey Bossa? Maybe, but if I had to guess I'd say one of the Florida schools or Alabama. He was a huge Alabama lean not too long ago.

Not to mention Ohio State's class is only going to be 16-19 big....practically the same size as USC's, and he just said that he wouldn't finish at the top because of numbers.

Michigan is at 17 commits, 13 of them 4*'s- Morris will probably be a 5*, so it'll be 1-5*, 12 4*'s, and if 247 is smart they will bump Deveon Smith to his rightful place as a 4*.

Michigan has a much better shot at finishing at the top of the rankings than Ohio State considering they have a better class right now, they will have bigger numbers- 23-25 for Michigan vs. 16-19 for OSU. And if Michigan lands Isaac and Treadwell, and all indications are they are the leaders in the clubhouse for those 2, really won't matter who else they land.

No set date but it's definitely been discussed.

ONe thing that is holding us up is that there is no obvious No. 1 in this year's class. Lots of guys that we think are 5-star types but it's been tough to nail down the top guy. No Nkemdiche or Clowney that is a no-brainer for the top spot.

I have to think that Jabrill Peppers, ATH, Don Bosco Prep (NJ.) will be very highly ranked for 2014.

What are your thoughts on him Barton? I've seen this kid play in person and was extremely impressed.
