Good find. Hopefully you aren't assuming I am ready to defend Bush, because he contributed to this deficit just as much as Obama and catapulted this spending frenzy.
However, the only time that article mentions Obama's numbers are the 78 days he vacationed between 2009 and 2011. Well it is now 2013, and that article was written back in May. I would like to see the updated numbers and plus Obama still has 4 more years to go. Maybe we can bump this thread in 2016.

Nah, no worries about the defense, just wanted to answer your question.
We'll see where Obama's numbers are when he finishes his 2nd term, but I'll honestly be amazed if he tops 300 vacation days.

Lets see. If three years ago, annualized growth was zero; two: one percent; one: two; this year projected: 2.5; ~3% after that, yea I'd say the wind.
Last quarter saw increasing investment, hiring above previous quarter averages, housing starts YOY etc., but the defense spending hesitation brought GDP growth negative.
The same thing is going to happen this year. Private sector economic indicators have been accelerating for months now, but the public sector is still shedding jobs and now is cutting spending. It's going to be a drag in the economy. The difference is it doesn't have to be as bad as the terrible sequester. Across the board, non-discriminate cuts are a terrible idea.
Exactly why Congress needs to change it before it happens and not go on recess.
