I know he says he can, but could he really play this year?

Not at UA. or in the SEC for that matter.

If he does, it will just add fuel to the over-signing argument. It won't mean anything in actuality, but some will jump on it.

It's pretty clear how it turns out good for him. He waits, he rehabs his knee, and he reports to Alabama one semester late. Then, he gets his education paid for and has a degree to carry with him the rest of his life. Have a little faith. I know you've got it in you.

Yeah, but the degree is from Alabama... so, you know, it's worthless.

Yeah, not like we have a nationally renown and award winning business school and communications school or anything.

Not to mention a Top 35 law school, which beats the ever-living shit out of that of Michigan State.

    Ummm...

I'm pretty sure you mean every school red shirts players who get injured durning their senior year.

That way they can get the support of the university for their rehab.

  • The AJC has jumped on every opportunity to criticize the practice of oversigning, but it is usually just a bunch of hot air. For those who are saying that CNS will not honor this kids Greyshirt offer come January that is blatantly false. CNS has honored every greyshirt offer he has handed out since he has been at UA. Sure, some kids have elected to sign elsewhere, but there are a large number of kids who commit daily and ultimately sign elsewhere. The fact that the kid won't be allowed to "sign" has more to do with the SEC's new 25 rule than not honoring our offer. If we could still "sign" 28 then the kid would have a signed contract guaranteeing his scholarship come January. There have been several success stories concerning the practice of greyshirting that I am sure you will never read about as positive stories just don't sell newspapers. If he delays enrollment until January (one semester, not a full year as reported) he will have the benefit of 4-5 extra months to make a full recovery from his injury, winter workouts, spring practice, and two summer sessions before entering his first fall camp still as a true freshmen. The benefits here far outweigh the negatives of waiting one semester to enroll, despite the ranting of some of our fine sportswriters.
