How are the 2012 Five Stars faring......

oh damn I can actually participate in this thread!

It took Diggs 3 practices to take over the starting spots at KR and PR. Hes working his way up the depth chart at WR but we have a pretty solid top 2 there. With CJ Brown out for the year I expect he will get a ton of touches now. Wouldn't be surprised to see some wildcat nonsense with him since we now have two true freshmen left at QB.

Brown is out for the year? Holy gracious

Amari Cooper...kid is going to be such a badass.

Agree...He's beating the veterans (those that we have) in the secondary - route runner par excellence and just "gets it".. He's going to be dangerous

Don't like Rammer Jammer? Probably because you just lost to Bama... Get ready to hear it again... and often...

Spence should see a good amount of time at DE, and Washington put on weight and will be backing up John Hankins at DT.

Wow. Adolphus already at DT? Surprised with that. I'm big on him. Big-time motor on that guy. NOt sure I saw DT coming this early in his career though.

  • Another WR who is standing out but wasn't a 5 star is Ricardo Louis. Dude will have a big impact on offense and in the return game this year.

Blew out his ACL in practice last night!

Well there are only 3 5*, but LC is Landon Collins and EW is Eddie Williams.

There are 4.....Ryan Anderson. Who goes just well with Reggie Ragland, Denzel Devall, and Dillon Lee.

Dillon Lee and Denzel Devall were underrated and Ryan Anderson could be a monster in this system one day. High ceiling type guy.

Tyler Hayes has done good as well.

If I was giving the ratings for our class last year it would start looking something like this (thus far)
    5* 100 Landon Collins
    5* 100 TJ Yeldon
    5* 100 Amari Cooper
    5* 98 Eddie Willaims
    4* 97 Denzel Devall
    4* 97 Ryan Anderson
    4* 96 Reggie Ragland

  • Since Oregon's practices are closed we only hear how their doing but Arik Armstead is as expected, and should contribute to some extent this season. I'd be shocked to hear him RS. Haloti Ngata definitely took a second look at Armstead when he was at the spring game.

    DE right?

Ya he'll play SDE or the equivalent of one. We mostly play out of 3-4 base, and make tweaks from there. Came to Eugene at 297, and has cut down to 280 for the season.

I don't think anyone did, he is around 290lbs. Very curious to see how he plays at that weight and position.

Dang, at 6'8 I'd think 290 would be better. Excited to see him

Ya I agree with you probably didn't need to cut quite that much weight. He'll play Fr. season at 280 and I imagine he'll hit the weight room in the offseason and be around 290 as a sophomore.

Duke is a freak. He's going to be exciting to watch for any fanbase. Tracy's been solid. Probably shouldn't play as much as he will but we are thin at CB so it's sink or swim time.

He's fine. Someone posted once the WRs Tracy faced in HS between practice and games and he was matched up man v man against something like 3 five stars, 10 four stars, and 8 three stars. He's a real player too. Howard starting isn't bad news for the Canes IYAM

  • ilovelamp51 said...

There's no doubt he is battle tested for HS standards... Still, CFB is a different beast. I think he'll be more than fine.. and considering we won't be world beaters this season, I don't mind him learning on the fly or the mistakes that come with it. Our upperclassmen rave about how hard he works & all the extra time he puts into it. Glad to hear Darby is doing it up. Los has told me he was balling... I originally thought he might get moved over to offense bc he was electric with the ball in his hands. Lock-down CB's are hard to find so if he's balling, he's not going anywhere.

Most of us thought he'd be a year two guy because he was a classic 3-4 position guy in HS but he's apparently playing great. Only bad thing is folks keep describing special plays he makes and everyone of them is basically talking about how he got beat but had "such amazing recovery speed" he got back and made the play. So our QBs aren't on time/leading properly AND he needs to quit showing off the closing speed and just cover folks well haha

  • I myself reached 5 stars in 2012 with a rating of 87(used to be high 90's) I didn't attend any camps this year but I don't think that's what brought my score down. I think it was tbb, I was high rated when I stuck to showing of my skills in my home town but now that I've gone global some don't think I'm as good, but I don't care about the star ratings and I feel I'm underrated. I will just post with a chip on my shoulder and the world they messed up. lol

I have no idea how I'm still in the 90's.. I get about a dozen or more DV's a day (although I do get quite a few upvotes) I feel like I'm more of a 3 star though..

Yes'sir Agholor is looking good.Banner and Tuerk have been getting 2nd and 1st team reps also.I expect them both to be in the 2deep this season.CB Kevin Seymour looks like he'll play early and often also.LB Jabari Ruffin is raw but he's been showing amazing potential to be a beast in the near future.

USC seems to be struggling with injury issues on a team that has questionable depth to begin with right now. Its going to have to be talent winning out over depth this season. Of course they have a lot of it.
