How can you be ranked above a team that just beat you?

  • They have gotten better, but don't we always stress that every game matters? You want to apply that rule to us losing to A&M but not to A&M losing twice before.

    I realize there are other factors that punish the Stanford and TAMU by losing earlier, but it seems the team ranked higher does not pay as big of a penalty.

    The AP and Coaches poll are ranking the teams this way....

    Are there other non-playoff sports where you prove you beat an opponent yet you are ranked below them?? I assume Golf is one and maybe Boxing?

  • Look - my point is not to flame any team - I respect all the blue bloods and the next gen dynasties - I think the AP poll an the Coaches poll are corrupt and extremely biased.

    I will use Saban as an example (no flame, just relevant to the topic) - how can Nick, after losing to TAMU, rank his team higher in the coaches poll? Matter of fact how can other SEC coaches rank Alabama higher? They did and I feel the poll is completely biased and should be tossed.

    I would expect the same from Brian Kelly

    seriously..... do you really think like this everyday..... yikes. Alabama is still ahead of AM because alabama hasnt lost 2 games its that easy if we take your ...thought process then we have teams like nc state and baylor in the top 10 because they had one good night of football...... It kinda comes off like ur just scared of Bama or something.

    Would you have ranked NC State above FSU the week after they beat them? I wouldn't have. The better team from a talent/coaching/et al standpoint doesn't always win. That's why we have upsets and the phrase, "Any given [Saturday]."

    You can flame me if you want, but do I think Stanford is better than Oregon? No. NC State better than FSU? No. But it goes both ways. Do I think SCar is better than UGA? Yes. It's not as black and white as you make it out to be.

    But basically what you're implying is that you don't like that the poll from the previous week(s) influences the ones following, correct?
