Why do we pay leaders for those overfunded agencies if the president has to go lead for them?

    Go read a management book.

How Congress left our embassies exposed

One reason our embassies are unable to protect themselves? Congress has been slashing their funding for years

I don't know. How about actually going to visit the area personally in a quick manner? Talking to local leaders and making sure the agencies are doing what they need to be doing? I mean he got praise from Christie. That speaks for itself. Even more impressive is that he is in the middle of a re-election and made sure he did what he had to do. Romney was still out their campaigning like a douche canoe.

Barbour didn't need to say anything negative since he got some preferential treatment.

The federal response should have been superceded in the event, but it wasn't. Luckily this admin changed that.

Come on...what good is the prez on the ground the day after Katrina? They really needed more politicians and media wading around in the sewage. That would have certainly expedited rescue and cleanup.

Along those lines, what did Obama do for the east coast by showing up and rolling up his sleeves? I would have been much more impressed to see him swimming around in a flooded subway tunnel looking for signs of life.

I already have my business degree from Bama. You just have to be patient until you get past the 300 level courses.

Oh, I'm sorry. How about: go start a business and hire some people and then just give them a purpose and say "go!". Come back and tell me how that goes.

Yep, it requires a security detail along with local police who could otherwise be helping the people. I am sure it would have been a mess had he not gone there and set them straight.

I already posted this. He proactively revamped FEMA.

In addition to making a personal effort and going out of his way to assess the situation and provide leadership immediately in the aftermath. You know like the President should, instead of just flying over and heading back and forth between Texas and DC for a few days.

And prior to Katrina, had bO been the prez, he would have had the foresight to revamp FEMA, right? Or would he have done it on the flight to NOLA?

So Obama has experience in Hurricane relief? He is trained in these emergency situations? He knows more than Fugate in how to respond?

BTW pup, unlike yourself I own multiple businesses. I read the "management books"...years ago.

Yea. He should have just sat back and told everybody what a hell of a job they were doing.

FEMA was making changes as early as 2006. Not sure what he is claiming Obama revamped.

Pretty sure they didn't grab a guy off Monster.com the day after Katrina. And I see what you think you mean...you're talking about morale. How would we best organize the presidential morale boost? Put a halt to any work being done so they can gather round for an inspirational speech? Or would it be better to get the looters to hold the rabit ears up on their new battery operated TV so they could watch it on the fly? I suppose they could see it when they got home. I'd need to see a poll on the effectiveness of retroactive inspiration.

The first part is probably a no, but I would bet that Obama would have handled Katrina better than Bush.

Well yeah! Obama would have never steered Katrina at New Orleans. Everybody knows bush did that, & when the levee's didn't break he had the military blow them up.

Trouble starting to mount. People waiting for hours for gas. No food, clothes, or power. What was claimed as a victory for FEMA not turning out to be the case. Anger building on MAIN STREET.
