The league is desperate for QBs. Period.
Just wait till next year when a "real good" Matt Barkley slotted #1 pick is traded for a King's Ransom to some poor team that needs him to be their savior.
If the Colts get the #1 pick next year, they can trade down to 3 or 4 and take Sam Montgomery while adding maybe more than what St Louis got for #2 this year.

I feel like we have had this conversation a year ago except their were a few other QBs that were mentioned. People said Mallett is better than Dalton and Cam. The problem is that Mallett does not do well at all under pressure. He also can't move in the pocket well. Great arm but that doesn't always mean you are going to be great in the NFL.

Mallett moves in the pocket pretty well actually. It's what he does when he gets outside of the pocket that messes him up. Mallett's pocket presence is nice, and the kid isn't afraid to stand up tall in the pocket and get hit to the chin while he's delivering a pass. Believe it or not, lots of guys are scared to sit in the pocket and take a hit. Look at Blaine Gabbert's girly ass for evidence of this.
Cam had a great rookie season, and so did Dalton, and I liked them both a lot going into the draft last year. A hell of a lot better than any of the other QB's I mentioned in the original post.
I still think Mallett will be a star in the future. He is getting the best football coaching on planet earth and he gets to watch and learn from maybe the greatest QB to ever play the game.

Every QB is terrible under pressure. Mallett is very much like Brady, very slow footed. They ran the exact same 40 time at the NFL combine and similar shuttle times. Neither of them are mobile even a little bit, but fortunately for them mobility is not a necessity for QB's. Both of them had some of the slowest 40 times in combine history for QB's. Mallett is bad at dealing with pressure directly up the middle and having to reset his feet when the pocket is collapsed up the middle. Tom Brady suffers from this as well. Watch the Ravens AFC Chip game or the 2nd half of the Super Bowl when the Giants started using Tuck more at DT and trying to penetrate up the middle.

If Mallett is such a dumb bastard then how come he graduated from high school early and enrolled at Michigan?
If Mallett is such a dumb bastard, then how come when he had chalk-talks at New England on his visit and Belicheck and staff tried to stump him they couldn't? How come he passed their quizzing with flying colors?
If Mallett is such a dumb bastard then how come he scored better than average in the Wonderlic? You do know the kid scored higher than Tebow (who had a 22) and that the NFL average for QB's in the Wonderlic is 24. Andy Dalton's wonderlic score was only 2 points higher- 29 vs. 27.Mallett also scored higher than Cam on the Wonderlic.
Complete moron though, right?
GTFO.
