People will be selfish and insist on outliving their natural progression, and earth will become overpopulated and collapse.

Other plants and animals will continue to go extinct, resources will deplete, and that will be the end.

That, or else the group that figures out how to live longer will start a war against the lesser humans and wipe them out to create more room.

It all sounds kind of crazy, but just think about it. If people live longer and longer, the population will skyrocket and there is only so much room and resource.

It would suck to outlive your family and everyone you know.

The entirety of the idea of living that long is selfishness. And yes, much of our human desires are only nice sounding on the front end. The misery sets in.

It would have practical application. Say we figure out how to cryofreeze people and expand a TON in space travel. You genetically manipulate 10 scientists and send them out in space to a planetary station. You freeze them so they remain in their 30s all the way there but then they are able to stay there and work for say 200 years. No one needs to live more than 200 years.

God allowed early man to live that long for one reason, to populate the earth.

The only limiting factor to our survival is us. As long as we don't blow ourselves up before then, we'll be able to reach far past Earth long before the sun changes significantly. Even a large asteroid impact could be avoided or lightened with current/future technology. I doubt anything will challenge human survival in the next million years except for the challenges we present to ourselves.

And fsu, even if that did make the slightest bit of sense.... why the need to be able to populate the earth so quick? History has shown we're in no rush here. This sun's been around for billions of years and it likely has billions left.
