  • here's all teams # of 10+ win season since 2000 (including 2000):

EDIT: for some reason, the system is not applying vacations, so alabama for example has a game record of 6 years, but in 2005 had to vacate some games so official record of 5 years. don't know why it's doing that. forfeits have been applied correctly.

that is 2000-current (2011) so for usc it includes this past year.

and for osu, they had to vacate 2010 wins, but as mentioned in the edit, the system isn't taking vacations into account correctly. it's still counting 2010 as a 10+ win season. not sure why.

also, same thing on the vacations for usc in 05.

we only had 6 in the 90s. no season worse than 9 wins between 1969 and 2002 though anyone else have a streak like that? The Solich/Callahan eras really hurt.

    no.

neb had 33 straight 9+ win seasons in that span, mich had 24, psu 23, and bama/osu both had 22 in that same span.

no one has any 33 consecutive years since, and going back much further teams didn't play enough games to allow that realistically.

fwiw, top 10 teams with 10+ wins season during that time span (kinda random, but here it is anyway):

    1 Nebraska 20
    2 Florida St. 17
    2 Alabama 17
    2 Penn St. 17
    5 Michigan 16
    6 Oklahoma 15
    7 Marshall 13
    7 Miami (FL) 13
    9 Boise St. 11
    9 Texas 11
    9 BYU 11
    9 Ohio St. 11

    yes they were.

fsu had 8 conf champs in 90's. (most in nation)
neb had 7 (tied for 2nd with some small conf schools)

fsu and neb both went to bowl game every year (along with mich, tenn, and psu)

fsu was 109-13-1 (.890) vs teams that finished ranked in top25.
    neb was 108-16-1 (.868)
those are easily the best in nation for teams that faced a significant # of ranked teams. (uf is only other team to top 100 wins vs ranked teams @ 102-22-1 (.820)

vs teams that went to bowls:
    Florida St. (49-13-1)--0.78571
    Nebraska (39-14-1)--0.73148
again, easily best in nation, as far as win%. psu, uf and mich all had 39 wins, but uf is 6 %-points behind and psu and mich are a full 12 %-pts behind.

and finally, vs teams with winning records:
    Florida St. (64-13-1)--0.82692
    Nebraska (47-15-1)--0.75397
and again, easily best in nation for major conf teams (marshall has similar win% as well)

hate to say it, but Bama is probably on that sort of run now. They are built just like those 90s Husker teams great defense and a punishing o-line and great running backs. They have built it right. I will always like the power teams over the flashy spread stuff.

for comparison, here's bama and ou from the 70's (in which both dominated)

    win%:
    1. Oklahoma (102-13-3)--0.87712
    2. Alabama (103-16-1)--0.86250

    conf champs:
    1 Alabama 8
    1 Ohio St. 8

bama went to bowl every year (so did neb in 70's, fwiw) and ou 8 years.

    vs teams finished in top25:
    1. Oklahoma (33-10-1)--0.76136
    2. USC (24-12-2)--0.65789
    3. Alabama (27-14-1)--0.65476

    vs teams that went bowling:
    1. Oklahoma (36-11-2)--0.75510
    2. Alabama (31-13-1)--0.70000

    vs teams with winning record:
    1. Oklahoma (49-13-2)--0.78125
    2. Alabama (52-15-1)--0.77206

(probably should have included usc in these #'s, but didn't think about them until half way through. sorry trojans)

    aight, i'm bored anyway:

    USC (93-21-5)--0.80252

    conf champs: 6

    bowls: 8

    vs top 25: USC (24-12-2)--0.65789

    vs bowl teams: USC (22-11-1)--0.66176

vs teams w/win record: USC (46-20-3)--0.68841

neb also probably deserves on this list, but i'm not doing this a 3rd time.

I was honestly more angry back then lol every loss hurt so badly cause they meant so much

after OU and the 2 point debacle I was ready to fight Snoop Minnis for being a jerk and getting suspended

Im still glad he never made it in the NFL, that is how bitter I am towards that string bean

Dude went for like 1300 yards that year then gets suspended for the national championship.... brilliant confused

Oh yeah, they hurt. I remember crying after the 1993 ND game (I was in 6th grade I think). However, having now gone through the 00s, I'd so much rather deal with the rare pain than the frequent numbness.
