We haven't really been a true capitalistic society (and you can question if we ever were) for close to 100 years. At this point, it'd be next to impossible to actually implement and enforce it, but in theory it's not a bad idea if our national goal is to regain its economic power. Hong Kong is booming and will continue to do so as they have a technological and economical edge - something the US could have if they so desired. But to decentralize the government is not something the politicians would be willing to do.

If the Federal Government shuts down we will be there in minutes. As Barney says this Mo will be anarchy, the price of guns will go through the roof and it will be survival of the fittest. The only reason some people are alive today is cause it is illegal to kill them. But if the military ain't getting paid I don't see anyone stopping a firing squad in Washington. I ain't saying we don't need law but right now we are a sue happy society that is just a looser version of France and Canada. We should scrap most of the laws from the 40-50's on.
