    He isn't favorable to the US diplomatically. Chavez is your typical authoritative,socialist,South American dictator. Pretty sure it's understood what Penn's political and social stances are, so I'm confused why this is surprising.

    Eventually. It will take more advanced battery and cell technology to increase range for small and medium-sized cars and such. That will leave oil for plastics and large transportation vehicles (trucks,planes,trains etc.). Once we can harness that, we can then reduce our imports (50% oil-related) and increase our export (I'm all for green,but I am a business man as well and would love for nothing more than to export our reserves of non-renewables).

    We will never rid ourselves of the use of oil until other things can be found to be used for plastics,lubricants etc.

    Well....Venezuela is 11th in the world in overall oil production, and 11th in the world in overall oil exports. Do you want Venezuela to give it away? How communist is that?

    The only thing that Venezuela does, that the US doesnt do, is Venezuela keeps a significant portion of their reserves IN COUNTRY and off the commodities market, and uses that to keep gas prices down in country. Of course every single major oil producing state does that too....except for the US and Canada.
