I can't believe Steelers ownership

  • Has let this team become what it has. An old team, Worthless corners, worthless RB's, and just not a good football team. Too many holes. Hell, we have a hole at the MLB position, and that is the most important position on this 3-4 defense. They refuse to make draft day moves, they refuse to make free agent moves(I can understand this to a degree), and they just ignore the glaring holes on this team.

Ben isn't going to last much longer. Guy is always injured, and when he does play he is playing hurt. He has no RB help because the ownership refuses make a move there. The two safeties are old. Troy and Ryan Clark. They are still serviceable, but nowhere near what they use to be, especially with the pathetic corner play from guys that wouldn't start anywhere else in the NFL. I think Ike Taylor could be a #2 corner somewhere if he is lucky. The Defensive line = old. Some serviceable young backups there, though.

Offensive line will be fine. DeCastro is back, so that is good.

As far as this team goes... They will be lucky to get 9 wins. I think they will win 1 more game and get to 8-8. With the 1st round pick, it will more than likely go to either a MLB or OLB to replace Harrison who will be gone next season. So... What then? What about the CB positions that have been ignored for the last few seasons? What about Troy and Clark getting 1 year older? What about the RB position that has Jonathan freaking Dwyer starting?

Just needed to rant. A franchise like the Steelers shouldn't be going through what they are going through. Its driving me mad.

  • In this day and age of sports ownership, I don't see a higher ceiling for the Steelers unless the Rooneys sell to a more lucrative owner/ownership group. JMO.

  • Wish I could complain about an 8-8 season being a disappointment. I'd be ecstatic for a 8-8 season for the Browns. One day, Believeland.

  • Timmons looks like he has been a solid draft pick along with pouncy, and woodley.

That is a bit of an overstatement IYAM. I'm sure about 28 other teams in the NFL would rather have the Rooney's than the current ownership that they have.

Edit: To the Browns fans, I think that the new guy Haslem is going to be a hell of an owner. Best that you've had since Art Modell. I know that you guys hate him, understandeably, but he was still a good owner. Haslem seems like he is going to spend the money needed and is really involved in wanting to win. A whole lot better than what the other team in Ohio team has at the helm.

  • You're such a negative Nancy Mountie.

The defense has been fine thus year, but they need to focus on getting younger the next few drafts.

What's really holding this team back is the inconsistent play by the self proclaimed young money of Wallace and Brown.

Wallace holds out to get paid and then decided he doesn't remember how to catch a football.

I'm looking ahead. The Steelers get 7 picks each draft. 3 of those picks will likely be released, placed on practice squad, or never signed in the first place.

The refusal of the organization to make draft day moves and free agency moves are starting to show. Are you happy with these RB's? Are you happy with these nobody CB's? What happens in a couple years when Troy and Clark can't go anymore? Now, they have to use their draft picks to fix their LB positions that Foote and Harrison are playing at this year.

I just don't understand why they continue to ignore glaring issues. Doesn't make sense to me. When I hear "Redman on the carry" or "Dwyer on the carry" is makes me sick to my stomach. When I see some practice squad worthy CB named Victorian getting beat over and over again, it makes me sick to my stomach. Knowing Lewis is on the other side of him doesn't make me feel any better.

Looks like they might be able to pull out this game against a very bad Cowboys team, though.

You do realize that coming into today they had given up the fewest yards in the league right? They could be better, but its not woe is me that you think. Theyve spent the last few drafts completely rebuilding the offensive line and the offense as a whole, you can't do it all. I'd bet my bank account that they use at least two of the first three picks this year on defense.

Pouncy requires double teams on all the average or better DT's.
he was solid his first year but now he's just living off the hype he got as a rookie.

Oh, boo-censored-hoo. Go through this for another 20 straight seasons, replace the Rooneys with a family that doesn't give a damn about the fans and doesn't care about winning, lose what few first-round playoff games your team qualifies for (badly) and then you'll understand what it's like being a Bengals fan.

One subpar season in which you'll still finish with a winning record and probably get the last wild card and Steelers fans want to whine about how difficult it is. Reminds me of Cowboys fans.

I like Mountie but I have to agree. I have no idea why a Steelers fan is bitching about the ownership of their program. I mean what do you want from them for fvcks sake. They are continuous winners. How on earth can you look around the NFL and say that you are pissed at the Steelers for the last, oh I don't know, fifty years or so.

The Steelers epitomize getting shit done. You can't be on top every single year, but they draft well and have proved that they will spend money on those that are team oriented. They don't bite on players that cry wolf and make them honor contracts, but they are winning pretty much every year. They draft as good as it gets as well. Thank god Mountie isn't a fan of the Jaguars or something like that. He might kill himself.
