I don't think we have a gun problem

Did I say that?? Go back, read what I quoted and report back to me

Yes, you did say that, considering the context of this conversation.

If that's not what you meant, then maybe you should think about why separate instances of violence resulting in fewer deaths don't receive as much media coverage as mass murders.

Just a little devil's advocate here..... so what happens when some asshole passes the psych eval, then breaks into a house and kills everyone in it and we find out that the homeowner couldn't defend himself because he flunked his eval for some reason.

There's no simple solution to this problem.

I'm sure that will happen over time and then we'll have to improve upon the psych evaluation. Unless people start becoming more sane and stable, this problem will not go away no matter what solution we take. I personally feel the status quo is broken and that a psych evaluation is a good first step.

The problem isn't the guns, not gun control, not any gun regulations, it's the American people. We can never be accounted for anything, the values aren't there, more and more people want handouts, the people in this nation is on a 50/50 right now. Take guns away and another civil war will most likely occur

Guns won't be taken away in our lifetime so you don't have to worry about that. There are just too many of them out there. Again, gun control advocates like myself would like to enforce stricter gun laws to prevent certain types of guns from being distributed as well as preventing certain types of people from obtaining guns with the easy accessibility they have now.

  • Banning guns won't make a difference. Drugs are illegal but yet people drill use them and find a way to get them into the country. Guns will still find a.way into hands of people. Its society and the mental health care that needs to change

Nope didn't say I hear about 20 black kids getting shot each week. I said I here about a young black kid getting shot at least once a week

It's all about society. I own guns and I love to hunt. If they took away my guns and I couldn't hunt, I wouldn't know what to do in my life

BTW, if there was a test you could give somebody to determine with any real accuracy if they'd be a mass murderer, don't you think we'd already be doing this?

I say we start cutting back on what metal heads that wear black every day are allowed to do. Ticking time bombs IMO.

    Metallica made me do it.

...which is why stricter measures on guns won't impact criminals much. Glad we agree, not sure why you wasted so many words.

Criminals aren't the ones doing these mass shootings.

Again, the talk is about gun control, not gun bans. That's the debate. As much as I would like to rid the world of guns, it's not happening.

No because gun lobbyists are too strong in this country. It's all about making sure that guns sales remain as high as possible. The don't want to limit their market.

  • I think our problem is our loathsome, sick, self-destructive, soulless, psychopathic culture. We are born into hatred, avarice, worship at the altar of the cult of the individual, and steeped in the cultural suppression of empathy, of the notion of a cooperative, humane civilization, and the perverse elevation of violence as a virtue. Humanity is comradeship, and we have sought to systematically eliminate this from our shared psyche. Unfortunately we are a sick civilization, and I don't think taking our guns away will stop us from killing one another, and more importantly continuing to nurture the cancer we created which will eventually destroy us all.

    Good morning.

  • We have to be able to bear arms. Remember this country was found upon this principle. It's primarily so the government can't take control of us.
How can we change the culture of this country? That is the question.
Remember a NOBEL prize was given for the ATOM bomb. What else can we say?

I think the issue is where are the lines drawn in the right to bear arms? When the amendment was passed the best we had were muskets. Now an average joe can afford and legally purchase an assault rifle. Nothing wrong with evaluating these things to se what's best for the people. No one ITT as far as I can see wants to repeal the 2nd.

  • Above all else, the 2nd amendment is a defense against political tyranny from government, domestic or abroad. I guess I'm old fashioned in that, the chance taken on horrific events is a necessary exchange for absolutely nothing to protect personal liberties.

The only thing protecting your 1St amendment is the 2nd, when you really boil down reality.
