Well that is the beauty of the composite rankings. You can still choose to just look at the 247 rankings.
But ideally the composite rankings eliminate any bias that one site might have toward a team or prospect.

For each player's rankings that get lowered by the inclusion of ESPN's rankings, another gets a bump. It all evens out .
Composite is for the better and if there is still an issue, then you can form your own opinion on who has a better class.

Thats the problem though for me, I hate ESPN and Scout, I think they do a terrible job.
Rivals does OK, and 24/7 does great. So that leaves me with only 25% and sometimes 50% of the puzzle that I think is worth anything.
I will just use 24/7 and formulate my own opinion though, not the end of the world.

Ah, but if they are using straight averages (rather than weighted) then outliers can still completely destroy a team's ranking. If 247, Rivals, and Scout have a player ranked as a highly rated 4* but ESPN has that player ranked much lower, then that can drag said player down considerably. It works the other way, as well; there could be a broad consensus that a player is a poorly rated 3* but one recruiting service could have them at a 5* and that would pull the player up unless outliers are weighted.
I would like to see a bit more transparency, with standard deviations and the individual service ratings reported. At least show us WHO rated each kid, even if their per-site ratings are obscured.

The truth is everybody in this business in its current state has hits and misses. Nobody bats 1.000. There are great calls on all of the networks and outliers.
Also, the majority of fans tend to gravitate toward the rankings that have their particular school's commits ranked the highest.
Let's take Derrick Green, for example. Rivals has him as the top back in the country. If he commits to Michigan, those fans are going to say they got the top back in the country. I doubt Ohio State fans would say that, same with Alabama fans.
What we are saying is it's all good. We want to give you guys, the fans, an accurate picture of the talent from the professionals in this industry that work hard to do it every day. We don't hate the guys from Rivals, Scout, ESPN or any other network. In fact, many of us worked with those individuals in the past (and will in the future) and they are all honest, hard-working guys and gals who appreciate the job they have and respect the prospects they cover. It may be that we get a little more right or that we have the best when all is said and done, but the bottom line is that it's an inexact science and everyone's opinion has some validity.
Our focus is not on our own ego or pretending to be "master scouts" here. Our focus is on you guys, the fans, the folks that love college football and recruiting and live it on that end of things every day. This is for you guys.
