I had the funniest dream last night.

  • I dreamt that Penn State hired some no name, clown from the NFL.

So what's the latest on the search?

Penn State search for HC moving quicker than AU's search for coordinators... cry

    Why?

I can tell you why I think it's a horrible hire...

    - Never been a head coach on any level.

    - He was essentially fired by the Patriots (they did not renew his contract after this year)

    - Very mixed reviews as a recruiter.

    - No recruit has ever heard of him.

    - He knows nothing about Penn State or it's culture

    - He's staying on with the Patriots throughout the playoffs

Those are one's off the top of my head.

You can say that about any unknown.

I'd say, given what we do know, all indications point to this hire being a colossal failure.

The last line is probably the worst one overall. If NE wins a couple of games he won't be on campus until right around signing day. Good-bye 2012 class.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

This isn't some MAC or Big East school, this is school that fills its stadium with over 100,000 fans. This is a big gamble on PSU's part, and they are throwing away this year class with no knowledge on how he will be able to recruit and develop kids going forward. He has no support from past players, and if RichRod situation at Michigan is any indication, that hurts.

Also, who is recruiting for them right now? How can anyone on the current staff give a single guarentee to a kid. This program is blowing in the wind until he is on campus with a staff around him. PSU has no idea how to transition, the length of Jopa tenure and the child rape scandal may bury this program.

  • Cowherd is killing PSU right now.

  • One last thing. All this does is help tOSU. Gives them an easier path to the B1G championship game each year.

Except for next year, when it basically hands Wisconsin its second straight CCG appearance.

Should be Wisconsins's to lose. The have to be replace a QB who just set the NCAA single season passing efficiency rating and their #1 WR. On top of that there was a mass exodus by the staff. But, they have the NCAA single season TD record RB returning with a solid Oline. Any other year and I think Wisconsin is hurting, but with tOSU ineligible and having a new staff, PSU replacing coaches, and Illinois replacing it's coaches, it should be Wisconsin's to lose.

That's what I'm thinking. I bet 8-4 (5-3) wins that division. Basically WI could lose to Nebraska, tOSU and MSU and still win by beating IU, Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota and PSU.

Purdue may be a sleeper for exactly that reason. That's going to be the worst division in football next year; tOSU picked a bad year to be on probation.

I think MSU - Wisconsin is going to be the "who lost less" Bowl lol cry

I see it Michigan vs Wisconsin, but I am sure I biases don't come into play on that. lol

Honestly, this is probably a good thing. I think, at least for the foreseeable future, they needed to hire someone and run a program LIGHTYEARS away from what Penn State traditionally is. Too many skeletons in those closets.

I was talking about the regular season match-up between the MSU - UW lol Not going to even attempt to predict the CCG till after spring ball/known attrition comes to an end.
