I wish he stayed. Guy was a huge loser in Toronto.
Funniest story is when he called in sick and skipped the raps game, but then got caught at a club that night and a writer took a picture and sent it to team.

Absolutely. When the Raps had a good team (even decent with Bosh) the ACC was sold out every night. Toronto fans are just aching for a winner, and if we get one the fans will show up in droves. The ACC is super loud also when they have something to cheer about.
The Magic wiped us, but we had a decent series a couple of years ago. And we had a nice rivalry with the Nets had some good series when Vince first got traded there.

I just remember basketball didn't take in Vancouver (not comparing them to Toronto). I do remember Raptors Nets games a little, but haven't watched them recently. This would be a really good year to have a top 3 pick and not get stuck drafting a Bargnani #1. It's pretty hard to build a winner in the NBA, but maybe the new CBA will create more parity, but I have my doubts... I would like to see Toronto do damage in the East instead of the Knicks or Boston.

I don't think the Raps will ever be truly a contender, but just getting in the playoffs winning a series or two would be a treat. The Raps could always get lucky and get a KD esque player who takes to Toronto and actually wants to build a winner here.
That being said, Toronto and Vancouver are different cities and Toronto actually likes basketball. Vancouver is predominantly white, and asian and is a culture that is built on the outdoor lifestyle. Toronto is very multi-cultural and has a lot of everything, but especially eastern europeans who loooove basketball. Having that #1 pick in such a crappy year was a drag, but Bargnani can be a decent role player on a good team IMO.
Raps need a scoring SF (MKG), and a PG who can run the offense and play defense. Derozan is decent, and Bargnani can score and Dwayne Casey is a good coach for him. If that center pans out and we get lucky next couple of years in draft Raptors could be decent. It will take a lot of work, but I like Casey a lot.

How's their coaching? I used to like Sam Mitchell when he coached Minnesota. Is it Jay Triano or something like that? Never really heard of him. PG's are so hard to find nowadays, teams stockpile them and hoard them, e.g. Clippers, Wolves, Rockets come to mind. If the Raps get one to develop (I'm thinking Marshall) they probably take off. It's easier to find scoring 3's imo. They are all over the place, but probably play no D. I just think the NBA is ran terribly and Stern needs to go, although my Lakers heavily benefitted prior to the last CBA and Hornets fiasco. I find myself surprised at the dedication of most NBA teams despite the way the system was set up for so long.

If Stern would just eliminate the "Shaq" rules, the league will be 1000x better.
Thats what made the 80's and 90's so good. Basketball talent, as a whole, has just completely dropped off.
The last string draft was 2003, and thats basically whats keeping the league alive.
The 96-97 draft classes were awesome as well (Kobe, Iverson, etc)
Maybe Kyrie or Jennings turn it up, but in in 5 yrs, there better be a new batch of certified STARS. If not the NBA will be in serious trouble.
LBJ and his class will be working on 13-14+ yrs, at that point. Where are the next legitimate superstars?

....so not cool
Pierce and Garnett anyway. Ray Allen is just crazy i could watch him shoot all day. Rondo is a baller too, but seems like a real douche.

I hate the Celtics
