I think you are in for a sad reality check. The SEC did a poor job with leveraging their power and it will be a decade before they can renegotiate for serious cash. Adding 2 more teams will mean another "look in" from ESPN, but they are not going to throw an extra $20 million per team per year. With 16 teams that would be a $320 million, per year increase which over 15 year would mean that the increase alone would be worth about 150% more than the current contracts with CBS and ESPN. Good luck getting that lol

It is already in the works, wait and see. The big x knows who their daddy is, that's why they scrambled to get two crappy teams like Maryland and Rutgers.

How is what I posted untruthful though? I posted the population of the states in which teams reside. Like I said, I wasn't getting into markets. It's widely known Rutgers was valued for the NYC market. I'm not saying they don't bring that with them.

So then what value is your post? None.

The fact is that the big x is scared of what Mike Slive is about to do. Watch and learn rookies.

The SEC will add two more teams before finalizing anything. When it's all said and done, the SEC will have a 15 year deal worth around 35 million per team.

Yeah, you are right, because Mike Slive has been ahead of Delany every step of the way in this expansion business. lol

When did you get your 12th team and add a championship game? The SEC did it in 1992.

When did you get your 13th and 14th teams? The SEC did it last year.

Seems like the B1G is chasing the SEC to me.

What conference school is in New York again?...

If you re-read my post, I was posting the population of the states from which teams reside. I was not getting into additional markets that could be captured. Rutgers is in New Jersey, not New York, so I didn't include New York.

Er, em, empty skully- Hold your britches lad, cause of the top 10 rated college football games in the new york city region this year................ Get................. ready................... are ............... you .............. ready?

Rutgers was featured in 7 of them.

No way dwags, skully is thinking, the states population, the states population, I tell you it's the states population.

Em, no. The new york metro market is saturated with Rutgers supporters. Saturated means a lot.

Here's a quote: "Beyond the notion of rights fees, those are still more customers to watch advertisements, and New York City metro viewers (CBS recently reported that seven of the ten top college football game ratings in the market this year featured Rutgers) "

Anyway, the numbers you seem to like to throw around are in no way disrespectful to the SEC. it's the very best we have to offer in college football, but if you really want to market something, you need to know where the people live.

O.K., I'll leave this article here just so you can chew on some numbers for a bit.

No, the SEC has been making stupid, reactionary moves to what other conferences were doing. After ND went to the ACC, Delany said "F this, we are going to gobble up some large markets and make a ton of cash". And that is what they did. They will likely add GT soon and will wait and watch the SEC and Big XII grab more ACC schools. Then they will make one more attempt at getting ND before adding either a UVA or UNC. Maybe he will go nuts and add four more to get to 20... who knows. However, when it comes to generating money for the league, no one is better than Delany.

Oh well. Carry on about the tv deals.

Nah, this whole thing is about viewership and what the big ten is able to do vs. other conferences because of numbers. Your one post in this thread is speaking about an expansion first thing instead of the crux of the viewership debate.

However, just to humor you, I'll concede. The SEC expanded first. They added a championship game first, they did.

They just did it in front of a smaller viewing audiance.

Oh he's not ha? Who got to 14 first? Who has teams in their conference that have won the last seven NC's? Slive is definitely winning. Big x football is slow and boring. The slow white dudes make the black guys look fast, but even they are slow. SEC speed dominates.

We are talking about TV contracts, which is driving expansion. The Big Ten is killing it. The SEC missed some opportunities and now is playing catch-up. It has nothing to do with the product on the field.
