I think the rivalry between OSU/UM the school

Well, we beat both UM and tOSU this year. How do you want us to react?

You are reacting exactly as I would expect. Like Sparty fans.

    Exactly.

UM dominated before the forward pass was invented.

The point is, OSU and UM have been nationally relevant on a consistent basis since 1940...MSU has not.

I think despite the overall record, Michigan fans almost universally accept OSU as relative equals in the grand historical perspective. MSU...not so much.

MSU wants historical and national respect, win a national championship. That would do wonders.

And how is that? Cheering on because we beat crappy teams? Go look at the record between msu-um when both teams have winning records. You'll be extremely surprised.

Duh, did you read the part I quoted? Nov last game is "rivalry week"…that's when the iron bowl is played, that's when USC vs UCLA is played. The ratings have been so abysmal for the OSU UM game talks were to move it to Oct.

This is what you started with,

"Also, to the OP when they were drawing up the divisions there was serious talks of ending the UM OSU rivalry. The ratings have been abysmal and there was serious talks of finding OSU a better end of season rival and UM a more competitive game at the end of season like MSU. Fact."

I didn't see any mention of terrible ratings for the game, getting a better rival for OSU, or a more competitive game for Michigan in your link. What I did see was an attempt to get Michigan and OSU to play twice a year.

I bet it's pretty even because both teams were actually good. That doesn't change anything. That's what happens when two teams are good. They play each other evenly. The point is that MSU hasn't been good very often. I bet that series with winning records that you're referring to only has like ten or twenty seasons at most.

Don't forget to include a left handed center and red headed punter. It is surprising what comes up when you look at it that way. Who cares about the straight up records.

    How is that?

With an exteme overreaction to a very small sample size: ie, one year.

Yeah, and the outcry over how stupid that would be was so overwhelming that they squashed the idea.

All I said was it was on the table and being discussed. To be honest I don't think the rest of America would miss it that much. The games have been absolute snooze fests, and the ratings have been awful. The game doesn't draw that much interest outside of your two schools anymore and clearly people are voting on it by watching something else. There's a big reason why executives wanted to cut it up, they only care about the bottom line.

If you're talking to me, I'm not saying you're bad right now. I'm saying, historically, you're not that good so it's stupid to bring up only seasons where both teams had winning records. That's not a lot of data. Why wouldn't we include the forty or so years that you were "down"?

Like it's been done before? shrug

OSU has beaten both MSU and UM in the same year a bunch of times as has UM done the same to MSU and OSU. What State has done might be special to you Spartan fans but it's nothing special to the programs that have done it before. You get respect in 2 ways. Do something special(something that hasn't been done by the programs you are looking for respect from) or give respect. State and their fans fail in both those ways.

I realize you are trying to get a rise out of Michigan and OSU fans, but the "fact" that your link showed that the executives split Michigan and OSU into seperate divisions with the hope that they play twice a year shows how much of a fool you are. Keep hyping and pumping your link. lol

Agreed, when I look at the pecking order for Michigan's rivals, I put OSU first, ND second, followed by MSU. Others see it differently, that's just the way I look at it.

Except your life revolves around ripping on MSU on a mesaage board. You talk more MSU than most of the members on tRCMB.

It eats at you. 4 in a row. You are 0 and 11 against OSU and MSU. Hahahahahahahahaha. I bet you are crying right now.

  • I love the sour grapes. OSU caught cheating, UM falling to the bottom half of the Big Ten, and now they are joining forces to rip MSU after we beat both. Lol. Hahaha.

Man, what a disfunctional family. Looks like our older bros are losing their hair, gaining weight, and paying for prostitutes. Little bro is just getting started.

You're right, I'm obsessed because I responded to a thread about UM and their rivals which was started by an OSU fan.

  • Can someone explain to me why some UM fans make such a big deal if the MSU/UM game is a rivalry or not? Who the F*** cares? Call it what you want, it's still a big game. What's it matter if one team makes it a bigger deal or not? It's a retarded thing to argue about.

This. Playing Michigan is MSU's MNC game. This is all their fans care about. I worked with an MSU grad who stated he would rather go 1-11 and beat Michigan than 11-1 with the lose being to Michigan.

    lol
