I thought Mike Mauti was smart

At least Mike Mauti "plays school"...

    How would we know.

It's not like Penn State is above covering up the most heinous crimes. Why wouldn't they cover-up for players skipping class.

Penn States was caused by a coach that started when he was coaching?

You should look up the difference between a coach and a player. It's complicated, I know, but I'm sure a Buckeye can handle it.

Which matters more to a college program? A coach or a player?

  • You would think as smart as penn st players/alumni think they are they would realize that tressel lying and not reporting what he knew got the school sanctions. Had he reported them the players would have been declared ineligible. But hey, why let facts get in the way of a good story. Also, a reasonably intelligent person would understand why people affiliated with penn st should stay away from talking about other teams sanctions in any way. Reading penn st fans question another coach's integrity/character is laughable.

Actually it has everything to do with the topic. You're linebacker is saying "We didn't do anything, while they actually did things" Too bad your coach did something. A coach is more important to a college team than the players are, therefore things that involve a coach and football should be looked at harder.

You're not going to find any sane PSU fan who says the actions of our former coaches & administration was better/showed more integrity. Really, the crime that those at PSU committed is not even comparable to those rules broken at OSU.

Here's the thing though: Mauti isn't talking about that. He isnt saying the coaches/administration didnt commit a crime. I'm sure he understands that the crimes that were committed were absolutely heinous. He's just simply saying that, at the very least, no PSU player did anything wrong meanwhile some OSU players did help cause the sanctions. The problem though is if someone says they don't want PSU given the death penalty, they are despicable human beings. So he's in a lose, lose situation.

And obviously he doesn't think anything should be done to the team. Do you think OSU players think anything should have been done? No one on the team broke any rules, but it's the NCAA.

  • i thought a good part of the PSU sanctions was the lack of centralized compliance...

PSU players have been running a muck around campus for years without any discipline outside of a stadium cleaning.

"Triponey recommended suspensions; Paterno pushed for community service that included having the team clean up the stadium for two hours after each home game.

In the end, four players were briefly suspended during the off-season. They didn't miss a game."

  • It's too bad that Mauti just runs his mouth and doesn't back it up with his play on the field...

    getmyjive11

  • It's time OSU fans start to realize, it cheated. As stupid as Tatgate was, your coach broke NCAA rules by knowingly playing ineligible players the entire season only to get wins - hoping he didn't get caught. That, is cheating. That is breaking NCAA rules. Mauti maybe shouldn't have said anything, but he is correct.

Bang on Mauti all you clowns want. I'm reminded of words coming from Shazier earlier this week saying OSU should be LBU. Is that not dumb? Considering your linebacker play the last two year's, especially this year - I'd say his comments were just as dumb.

The players were ineligible regardless you moron, if he had reported it or not. A reasonably intelligent person, which I don't consider you being one of them, could figure that out. So, hiding the fact they were ineligible to begin with is ok?

You idiot, if you had comprehension skills you would understand that the reason tOSU is on probation is BECAUSE TRESSEL LIED. If he doesn't report it, then how the hell would the players be declared ineligible dumbass? Plain and simple. If he doesn't lie the players actions alone don't get the school on probation, they would be declared ineligible when he self reported, which he should have done, and not play. You are obviously to dumb to process all of that information, but it can't be said any more simply than that. Who said what Tressel did was ok? Are you saying that a coach harboring a child predator on his staff is okay?

Because no Penn State player should ever talk smack about another school's sanctions in any capacity whatsoever.

He wasn't talking smack, and he was asked the question in a press conference. He did not bring it up on his own.

If you knew anything about Triponey, you wouldn't be using her in your post.

I also have very little issue with the way Joe handled his players. Despite what that asshat Emmert says, our grad rates are way above the average...and above another certain school's average to boot.

Not saying we are or have been perfect, but we've been better than nearly everyone at producing STUDENT-athletes from our university.

Seriously, how can anyone trust that PSU didn't just pass athletes to boost graduation numbers.

Your administration covered-up the rape of children. There is literally nothing your school wouldn't do to protect it's image.
