I would support Obama if we installed a $1,000,000,000 electrical fence along the coasts of the Atlantic and Pacific in order to protect our innocent American beach goers from vicious shark attacks.

After all the odds of being eaten by a shark Are about the same as being murdered in an elementary school.

Fear of the unlikely unknown has always been a blatant excuse to waste tax dollars.

Maybe it would be cheaper to regulate gun purchases better?Perhaps an annual $100 psychiatric evaluation for gun owners?

But who wants to sacrifice an iota of THEIR gun rights, when we could just spend an extra $100,000 a year on the thousands of Public schools around the country?

It's free money anyway right?

Here are some other ideas:
-Reinstitute the assault weapons ban
-Regulate handgun clips to lower amounts
-Eliminate/Regulate the sale of weapons at gun shows
-Institute a psychiatric exam

Controlled? No. That's impossible. Can we limit mass murders? Possibly. I'd rather be constructive than sit by and accept what keeps happening. I don't see what's so crazy about what I proposed.

Are you really linking a person that likes to hunt and protect his house to a street thug?

In no way can you control what happened today.

No one is talking about controlling anything, but prevention is possible. There have shown to be many similarities, one being instable individuals getting ahold of weapons, including assault weapons and handguns that use high amount clips.

Let's limit the amount a clip can hold for a handgun.

Lets reinstate the assault weapons ban.

Let's require a psych test prior to buying a weapon.

Imagine how less effective and frustrated a gunmen would be having a smaller clip, having to carry around multiple clips and reloading at a higher rate, making him more susceptible to exchanges with concealed carry individuals,police etc.

I agree.

I think some people are philosophically opposed to the idea of constructive measures because it would possibly mean more government (which I don't think it could or should be limited to) whether or not it was successful.
