But you don't know the specs of the ACTUAL guns being used.

And yes the stuff does need to be changed. We need stuff done, not status quo.

I'm sorry if that offends you.

I've read the characteristics of every weapon used since aurora. None of them have been used. LOOK AT THE CHARACTERISTICS. I'm not offended.

Could you link what you are looking at?

  • To makers credit, guns these days are harder to manipulate. But what about a restriction on older guns? When i was 19( I'm only 24 now) I bought a Ukranian made SKS with a bayonet and a 32 round clip...over the counter in about 10 minutes...that's probably dangerous. I've since resold the weapon but guns that are 30-50 years old can easily be fashioned into automatics with a basic understand of metallurgy and gun parts.

I see the characteristics of the ban. I'm talking about the specs of the guns used. Like their specific guns, not the type of gun. How can you know their versions would be applicable of not? I've read multiple articles talking about different versions of the same gun could be banned and allowed because of variety in specs.

He also fired a Smith & Wesson M&P15[11]semi-automatic rifle with a 100-round drum magazine, which malfunctioned after reportedly firing fewer than 30 rounds.[11][12][13] Finally, he fired a Glock 22 handgun".

I didn't say they weren't dangerous and that bad things didn't happen. But they were still a lot less dangerous than today. That is just a fact.

The murder rate was higher in 1960 than it is today

Your argument is invalid, you can't have a mass murder with nails. It doesn't happen. 22 kids were injured in China during a knife invasion, none were killed.

He was talking about a bomb, so it is very valid.

What about hollow point and armor piercing ammunition?

Hollow points are much safer for home defense, so I fail to see your argument.

The last thing I want is to have a round penetrate the persons body and continue on into my neighbors' house(s) and potentially injure or kill an innocent person.

Hollow points expand upon impact and therefore do not travel as far.

  • Regulations and legislation aimed at keeping certain guns or clips off the streets is nothing but feel good measures. That's one reason alot of that stuff was repealed.

A regular handgun could kill a bunch of kids just the same. It takes a few seconds to change a clip. Outlawing and prohibiting ownership of things doesn't work in this country or anywhere else if the people want said item. Alcohol in the 20s and drugs today prove that. All that happens is you create a black market that criminals feed off of. If any high schooler can get any drug he wants then he could get a gun if they were illegal.

There's nothing to be done here except take more personal responsibility and wait for the human race to evolve to the point where we can control this type of behavior through genetic modification. This is a human problem, not a gun problem.

In Rowanda they succeeded in killing a race of people with machetes so knives do work. In the middle east they use bombs. Hitler used chlorine gas. Those are just tools humans use to kill. The best way to stop the killing would be get rid of humans. I assume that won't go over well. Next best thing is to eliminate that behavior in humans. I'll let better people than me figure out how. Cough cough.... genetic engineering. That's what it will take to keep humans from killing one another. People like this Lanza kid just happen, they slip through the cracks and go haywire on society. Just like cancer does in our body. Its just the human condition.

Just once admit you are wrong. Society was much safer pre 1950 than today...that's a fact.

Safer for who? Society in the 1950s was safer for who? Americans? Not only are you generalizing society, and not looking at a majority of the shifts in both racial demographics, gender differences, and a change in the political atmosphere of the US and the world.
