IE/Firefox

  • I have really used Internet Explorer for a really long time but then about two years ago I saw where a friend had been using Firefox and I tried it. I haven't switched back, firefox is so much more cleaner and faster than IE. I know a whole lot of you have to use IE for work and others things.

    What's your go to browser?

  • Here's how I rank the browsers. I have used each of these quite a bit:
    1. Google Chrome--Especially if you like to sync, use GMail, and don't mind having Google know every site you visit.
2a. Opera--Beautiful browser and very underrated. The major drawback is that you have to change some of your advanced settings to get the full functionality of some websites, including Netflix, which doesn't stream videos on Opera unless you change its rendering engine.
2b. Firefox--The everything for every man browser. You can use it to program or just dink around and play games. Simple and very intuitive.
    3. Safari--I almost exclusively use PCs, so I'm predisposed to dislike Safari. My opinion isn't really valid here.
    4. IE--I will say this though-while IE hasn't been particularly good since about IE4, IE10, which is built in to Windows 8, seems really good. I've been using the Win8 Release Preview and Consumer Preview for several months and I actually like IE in Windows 8. It is really nice looking in its full screen mode.

If you are interested in doing any advanced work or changing default settings or rending engines, there are a couple of foreign based browsers that are really good. Lunascape and Sleipnir are two really good Japanese browsers.

  • Haven't tried Safari, but I prefer Firefox over both Chrome and IE. Chrome slowed my computer down entirely too much.

My only complaint with Firefox is when I am on my netbook and open this site and Pandora, Pandora skips like mad. If anyone has a fix, great, but Chrome didn't help the problem.

  • Firefox as my main browser, Chrome for my less than stable internets, Opera for my research assignments (Mini for iPod/Droid phone). Purposefully avoid any other browsers.

  • Google Chrome. Runs the fastest for me. I would rank them..

    Chrome
    Safari
    Firefox
    IE

I haven't tried Opera, but now I'm interested.

I used to be a Firefox diehard and saw the light about a year ago. Chrome really is the best browser out there, hands down. The thing I really like about it is you can sync all of your open tabs, extensions, bookmarks, etc. to your gmail account, and then sign in from multiple locations and have a seemless experience. I close my browser at work and go home, open Chrome, and everything I was doing at work is available.

  • I've used Chrome for the last couple years. IE had a monopoly on the browser market until Opera, Firefox, and Chrome came along then everyone realize how crappy IE was, I know Microsoft has really tried to close the gap with their newest releases.
