    Well, that and that we are also the same species as Hispanic folks.

    Here's a good one for you: I was speaking in front of a group of soon-to-be graduates at a school in Birmingham called Samford University, which is a good school, but a conservative Baptist University. I brought up the importance in today's world for us to spread our wings and learn other cultures, languages, and things like that, especially Spanish these days. I was going over the benefits in certain industries that being fluent in Spanish was help someone make more money. The kids thought that was a sin and an attack on the Lord himself that I spoke about acceptance in anyway of other cultures. Some, not all as this was a very right wing audience even for Alabama, are just so close-minded that I doubt they are able to enjoy life. It's like they are happy with going through life miserable and blaming others for their problems.

    How am I supposed to combine my lack for not giving a shit what you think and what I do for a living?

    Honestly, I am not sure if Samford holds me in any esteem, but I do know that what of the professors does enough to ask me to talk to a student organization he is involved with.

    Honestly, I was just pointing out one of my issues with conservatism and Christianity in the South and using a story to give a tiny inkling of my disdain for it. I was not making a huge point about the school. The same could be said about any college in the South, maybe to a slightly lesser degree.

    I do admit that I generalized a bit. It was a group of about 80 kids and only 5 or 6 of them made comments to my point.
