Are you aware of what kind of program Utah St is?

its like the people who think Al Golden isn't a good coach cuz his career record is 40-45 in his career.... dude was 27-34 at temple in 5 seasons (including 1-11 in his first season as a HC). the 5 years before his hire he was 11-45..... not gonna say anything about anderson cuz i know jack about him.... but winning at Utah St. is effing impressive

how has he 'won' there. He has had ONE decent season in the WAC. Only 2 winning seasons (other was 7-6) and the two prior to that were 4-8. SMH at most of you.

We're all entitled to our opinion; I respectfully disagree with yours.

The fact that he had any decent seasons in the WAC is an accomplishment. He's got 2 in-state schools (BYU and Utah ) with much much bigger followings even in a talent poor state. It's not like Utah State was some sleeping giant that was just waiting for right coach to step in and return them to glory. There is/was no glory; last year was their first winning season since '97.

The guy built something out of nothing. He's at least a decent coach and fielded a pretty good D. Ironically enough, they nearly upset Wisconsin @Wisconsin.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

4-8 his first two years there.

7-6 last year after Boise left the WAC, no ranked teams in the conference.

This year the WAC consists of Utah St, San Jose St, LA Tech, Idaho, New Mexico State and two teams in their first year of I-A football, Texas State and Texas-San Antonio.

The only thing that might constitute a resume win in four seasons at USU was an OT win earlier this year against LA Tech.

That conference is solid from top to bottom. Heavy hitters, I say.

    Yeah, I said it.

Really good hire... I think they upgraded over Bielema.

If he's that good, why didn't Auburn hire him? Or at least let him interview?

He was beating those teams with Utah State. A program that has been beneath most of those programs that you just listed. He somehow got a terrible program like Utah State to win 9 games. He wasn't beating La Tech with Alabama or Florida athletes. He was coaching Utah State to victories. That, in itself, is impressive. I like Anderson more than Bielema.

Auburn was hiring Malzahn the entire time. They knew who they were going to hire well before the hiring took place.

Anderson had to be the 10th choice, at least.

  • This was a great read. You tell who are fans of their team and who are fans of college football. Love it that the buckeye is putting down the guy that was the DC on the Meyer led Utah team that helped spring his career. He out coached Bert Bubbletits this year in Madison.

Wisky is jealous that Michigan is playing better.. Michigan hired Hoke from a school the size of Utah State and Wisky copied you guys. They literally did the same thing Michigan did

So you're telling me the day that Bielema was fired, you knew who Gary Andersen was and he was on your short list of candidates you would like to see hired?
