Because the last 2 were gifts. Try again.

so you are calling a team last year that was 2 plays away from going to the MNC a gift. I have heard it all now.

  • Who did people expect Wisconsin to hire?

They are a good program, but they weren't going to hire some huge name. They got a up and coming, good coach who has proven he can build a program. I think it's a good hire.

You brought up Geno and WVU... For some reason. WVU finished 7-5 while having statistically the worst defense in school history. Only way to go is up, and that is from 7-5. Yea, they sucked. Better than Rich Rod's 3-8 season in 2001 in his first season, though. I've seen much worse than 7-5. I can live with that while the defense rebuilds.

Geno will be the #1 pick in the draft by the Chiefs.

I brought up Geno and WVU because you asserted you had superior football knowledge for thinking Gary Andersen is a great hire for Wisconsin. I said from the beginning of the season that the Mountaineers were smoke and mirrors benefiting from playing in a mediocre conference that doesn't play any defense. You said they could play with Bama or Oregon. Apparently I lack football knowledge, though.

See you in the Reds thread in four months.

If WVU plays in a mediocre conference, what does OSU play in? Better yet, what does Florida State play in?

I believe he was trying to say we play defense in the B1G. The Lil 12 doesn't barring one or two teams.

you should be happy you DIDN'T go, especially after getting beat by the first 7 loss tOSU team since the late 1800s.

One day wesucky will be relevant, until then, just remember to act like you've been there before.

Never said Big Ten wasn't bad, it was god awful this year. ACC likewise is pretty bad, but I have always said teams in the Pac-12 and Big 12 are usually not as good as they seem because they seldom play anybody with a defensive pulse. It's the reason I've thought Oregon was a fraud each of the last 3-4 years and not been surprised when good defensive teams like LSU, Auburn and Ohio State shut down their "unstoppable" offense. I saw the same thing in West Virginia this year...can score a lot of points on teams that give up a ton of points, but can barely manage 14 points against teams like Kansas State that are built around defense.

Because he's a career .500 coach like Hoke. We are tired of carrying the conference nationally by being the only one who is making news and being relevant nationally. This move doesn't make them relevant

Lou Holtz went 0-11 his first season at South Carolina. It takes time to turn around a program. Andersen went 4-8 his first two years before following up that with the first winning season there in over a decade. He then followed that up with a very impressive 11-2 season with those two losses by a combined 5 points. All of this at a perennial loser. I, and every non-buckeye it seems in this thread, think it was a very good hire. One more year like this next year and he would've been a candidate for a lot of openings and wisky may have missed their chance.

Do you realize that Utah State is an extremely difficult place to win at?

He also had great success as a DC at a bigger program. The guy can coach and is also known to be a very good recruiter.

The WAC is an incredibly difficult league, too. pancake

B10 continuing to hire shitty coaches is only going to ensure more mediocrity from the majority of programs.

"they went to 3 straight rose bowls", they're clearly big time -_- Hell Cincinnasti got a better hire, IMO.

They are a good program, but not one of the top programs so they weren't going to get a big time name. Tuberville doesn't really fit Wisconsin. They needed to hire an up and coming coach and Anderson is one of the top up and comers out there.
