Which street filled with gangs directly outside the university will they be scattered on? (sorry, couldn't resist) I've driven around and been on the USC campus enough to know that you don't wonder too far from the actual campus itself. Especially after Bama wins the NCG and I'm driving w/ my RED bama flag hanging out my window. It took me a bit to realize why I was getting some seriously bad looks.

Yale, among a few other prestigious universities, is also located in a dangerous area...yet, it is consistently voted one of the "Top 10 Dream Schools" by the Princeton Review survey of college applicants AND their parents - the only write in question on the survey.

USC is also consistently on that list..wonder which university is more difficult to get into, Alabama or USC?

Were you driving around the USC campus with your Bama and confederate flag and gun rack? That might be why you got the "bad looks". (sorry, couldn't resist)

I've been on the Alabama campus, nice...wouldn't trade it for USC...I think our campus itself, is more beautiful.

Where did you go to HS? I grew up in Jacksonville is the only reason I ask. You may have had my father for a class depending on when you went to college.

I went to Auburn and of course cheer for Auburn

Gotcha. I went to Jacksonville High. Alexandria used to routinely kill us in most sports.

Saban was there at Kent when the students were killed. He was coming out of a cafeteria after lunch or dinner, ( I don't recall) and saw the SH** start happening. He went back into the cafeteria with friends and waited it out.

Ha, ya ya. I considered USC when looking at colleges, but they didn't show much return interest since they have a very good swimming program and had a few guys already that swam my events... who knows if I would've been accepted on academic merit alone?? I was recruited by Yale and the Air Force Academy, however, so we don't need to do the whole academic dispute. I'm well aware which is considered a better academic school. And USC is a cool school, but it is surrounded by gang land USA... you really can't dispute that. I lived in LA for about 2 yrs and I've stayed in the dorms multiple times for various swim meets and camps so its not like I'm commenting from the complete unknown.

But with regard to the gun rack and confederate flag, you really don't think I should be sporting those while driving around outside of Bama?? I thought it was universally accepted. shrug
