IYO who's most over/under rated prospect

  • I'll do this for a couple teams that I actually really research:

    Michigan:

Over: Henry Poggi - too much of a tweener, I worry about him finding a position in college.

Under: Channing Stribling - big, athletic corner who's blowing up at one of the best HS programs in NC.

    Ohio State:

Over: Evan Lisle - sloppy footwork and blocking technique, he's gotten by on size alone so far and he'll need to improve a lot to be effective in the college game.

Under: Darron Lee - Before he got his bump it would've been Ezekiel Elliot, but Lee has good size and athleticism and I'm always somewhat of a sucker for camp offers to kids who've been underrated by the media in general.

  • Under- Alex Collins and Stacey Coley.

  • Underrated - Tyren Jones - 5* Top10 player IMO

Overrated - Kelvin Taylor is a Top100 but not 5*

Underrated - WR Torii Hunter - dude can flat out make plays

Overrated - WR Robert Foster - talent is there, but level of competition thus far is not good. Maybe he can prove me wrong, but im not sure if he can get open against the better CBs

  • Overrated: Robert Nkemdiche--I think he's a legit top-tier recruit, but I question putting someone at the very top who showed nothing at camps.

Underrated--I agree with the poster above who said David Dawson. I think he could be a super-star as an interior lineman.

  • Also on Stacy Coley. The guys ranked ahead of him are ridiculous. A 6'7 WR who has major grade issues and since when do 6'7 WRs turn out. Robert Foster who NO ONE believes is actually a five star anymore and a guy from Texas.

A kid from Ft Lauderdale over a kid from Texas every....single....time.

    fsufsu

  • And no rb should be 5 stars, IMO. Not in today's style of football at least.

So all the 5 star rbs are overrated.

In the last 5 years, the #1 WR in the NFL draft has been from Texas twice; the #2 WR in the NFL draft has been from Texas twice. There hasn't been a #1 or #2 WR from Florida in the past 5 years. The last WR from a Florida HS was one of the top 2 WR in the NFL draft was Santonio Holmes. There have been 5 Texans since then.

  • For UGA

Overrated: Hes only a 90 but Id probably say Reggie Wilkerson

Underrated: LB Reginald Carter , WR Rico Johnson, and the big one JJ Green. Hes rated as an 89 because hes 5'9 but he is electric. Reminds me of the Honey Badger on the field, insane KR/PR skills. He will be a player I dont care how tall he is.

    And for all prospects:
    Overrated : Tyrone Swoopes

Underrated: Tyren Jones, if he sticks with Bama he overtakes Yeldon as the starter in a year or two IMO. Hes good.

Shut up. Your facts are not needed here. Im hyping a future Nole.

So, lets say Coley should be #2

Didn't he get carted off the field, on a stretcher, a couple of weeks ago?

    What's up with him?

Ha. Admittedly, I used a rather small sample size. I could see Coley ahead of Foster and Griffin, but IDK about putting him ahead of Rhodes.

Morris was trending to be number one. The strained va-jay-jay injury was definitely disappointing.

Honestly Bowden screwed some of the best WR talent to ever come out of Florida or they screwed themselves. Fred Rouse was a cartoon both talent wise and in personality. Dishon Platt was absurd and never qualified and then CC Davis tore two ACLs.

Sammy Watkins is from Ft Myers and will go top 3 in the 2014 draft most likely. He may average 90 catches for 1500 yards for 6-7 years in the NFL. Coley is not that fast but he's similarly talented overall.

Agree with Anzalone. Going to know if he's deserving once he participated in UA practices/game..

I know OP said no bias but I'm doing it for Michigan because they are the players I actually research.

Underrated- Deveon Smith. Kid is going to be a beast at RB for Michigan.

    Overrated- Henry Poggi

How would you compare him to other backs in the nation though?

You can't just watch his film, and say "you know what this guy is under-rated n should be rank higher" you have to watch films of the other elite backa too.

    Underrated - Deveon Smith

Overrated - Derrick Henry( he will play TE or DE at Bama)

  • Not sure I agree Derrick Henry is overrated since his rating is as an ATH. (If it were as RB I would agree)

Underrated: Tyren Jones, 5* RB and Top 25 player
Overrated: Thomas Tyner...if he were rated as an ATH might think otherwise (that size/speed combo is legit) but serious questions as RB IMO

What position do you possibly think he's a 5 star at though.

  • Alec James isn't the most underrated, but the dude is a monster. He's an 88 right now and he'll definitely be moving up if they get re-ranked.

If God dwells inside us, like some people say, I sure hope He likes enchiladas, because that's what He's getting

  • For Michigan

Overrated: Logan Tuley Tillman. He has a ton of potential, but he is total boom or bust, and IMO, going to be a bust.

Underrated: Ben Gedeon. Great athlete that is extremely smart on the field. Pretty much a Joe Bolden mold, but a little more athleticism.

    Non-Michigan

Overrated: Kendall Fuller. He has great athleticism, but he will be killed in the physical aspect of the game. Should be in the 40ish range.

Underrated: Thomas Tyner. Runs a 4.3 40 and has the size to be a power back. Rare physical traits.
