If Bama beats ND, and you were an AP voter,

  • If Bama beats ND, and you were an AP voter, considering how the SEC has been exposed the last few days, would you vote Ohio State #1. Or maybe even vote the winner of Oregon vs Kansas St #1.

If Alabama beats ND, Ohio St would get my vote (if I had one) for #1 after seeing that Bama's schedule obviously wasn't any more difficult than Ohio State's.

  • No way. Wins over LSU, Georgia and Notre Dame are way more impressive than wins over...Nebraska & Wisconsin? Can't say Michigan, because Alabama beat them too. Yeah, Bama lost to Texas A&M, but they're still more impressive than Ohio State and I bet would beat them.

Well Nebraska hung with Georgia, a team that had a play to beat the supposed national champ in Bama, after getting obliterated by Wisconsin, who OSU beat. OSU also ran Nebraska out of the stadium. And LSU lost to Clemson.

Ohio State also beat a good Penn State team, but apparently we're not worthy of mention ITT.

I'd vote Bama simply because they won the title game, but arguing SOS after your conference has been exposed in bowl season isn't ample justification. They would be national champs because they beat the #1 team in the bowl game while they were #2.

So it's ok for fans from teams outside the SEC to use the transitive property then, eh?

  • It won't happen no matter how bad the OP hates the SEC. It's a moot point so no point in even discussing it.

I probably shouldn't have posted in this thread. I'm not a big fan of the SEC.

I was at the 08 BCS game against Florida, and had a lot of family and friends at the LSU-OU BCS game as well.

Needless to say, I didn't have the best experience dealing with SEC fans and neither did those who I heard stories about.

I've heard Bama is different, and that y'all treated PSU fans very well when we went down for our ass kicking, but I haven't had too many positive experiences with the SEC in general.

Fair enough and PSU fans treated Bama fans well up in PA as well.

I'm just saying that you're better than using that stupid logic. By that logic you would be able to make a case that NC State or someone like that should be in the BCS national championship game or a BCS bowl because they beat a team, that beat a team, that beat a team and so on. No matter if they aren't even bowl eligible or not.

    Point taken.

FWIW, even though I can't stand the SEC, I'm surprised y'all have done this poorly in bowl games. I didn't think Nebraska stood a chance, and thought Florida would've run Louisville out of the stadium. USC should've killed Michigan too.

Just a weird year for college football as a whole.

The only one out of those three games that "shocked" me was the UF-Louisville game. To be fair, I hadn't seen Bridgewater really play so I didn't know how good he was. He made UF's defense look like scrubs and they are far from that.

I figured the UGA-Nebraska and USCe-Michigan games would be close though.

Our fanbase has quite a few of them. I would say that about 85% of our fanbase is pretty knowledgeable and tolerable of other fanbases (outside of AU of course). That hatred just comes with the territory. The asshats we have are a breed of their own though. All fanbases have them.

  • Only team that would have a case is Kansas St IMO. Though they are going to most likely get hammered by Oregon anyway.

Would also need an Oklahoma win over TAMU. With Oregon St tanking, and USC falling on our faces, Oregon really does not have a case, though I think they very well could be the best team in the nation this year

Why would Kansas State have a case? Personally, I don't think any school other than Bama or ND have a case and the AP voters obviously feel the same way, but why would KSU have a better case than Oregon? Oregon's only loss came to Stanford which just won the Rose Bowl and it was only a late field goal difference. KSU's only loss came to a shitty Baylor by thirty or so points.

I hadn't seen Bridgewater play either, but heard he was pretty good. I remembered watching something on ESPN where they showed him looking off safeties, but I didn't know he was that good.

I watched Wisconsin roll over Nebraska, and I thought Georgia would be able to cram it down their throats just the same. TBH I thought UGA was a more capable version of Wisconsin with an NFL QB. I should've watched them play a little more I guess.

I didn't watch any of USC this season. I saw Lattimore got hurt, which is too bad because he is a great kid, and stopped paying attention to them.

I didn't see LSU losing at all. Clemson looked pitiful the last week of the season, and I didn't think Boyd and Watkins would be enough to carry them past the LSU defense.

Baylor was one of the hottest teams in the nation towards the end of the year, calling them shitty kind of shows your ignorance. I would say that Kansas St would have the best case, as if they and OU win, then the BIg-12 was by far the best conference in the nation.

Baylor is dangerous, and IMO far too often overlooked. Briles is a hell of a coach, and has some talent on that offense.

They're not good by any stretch, but I wouldn't say they're awful.

Oregon has a case, but KSU lost by too much to an average, albeit dangerous, Baylor team. It's too bad, I really wanted Snyder to get his NC that he deserves if OU couldn't get it done.

Yeah I didn't see that LSU loss to Clemson at all. Especially when Sammy Watkins went out early. Those were two fairly evenly ranked teams so I didn't even include that game in my previous post. I still figured that LSU would beat them by 10 to 14.

Thing with LSU is that Mettenberger can keep even a straight lousy team in the ballgame. He only had one good game this year and that was against us.
