If Bama closes with Winston, Goldman, Jenkins, Ward, Collins,

We actually now have three RBs in this class. As far as our need at QB, that's really up in the air at this point. I'm not kicking him out the door by any means, but I doubt that Sims returns next season. Behind him we have Ely, who at this point appears to be purely a depth guy (that could change obviously, since he's only a freshman). That's it. With Morris coming in, there's the real potential that we could have three scholarship QBs next year. There's a reason our coaches are pursuing Winston this hard. They believe we need him.

I would like to know why we didn't pursue Gunner Kiel harder when he decommited from Indiana. We certainly wanted him before he commited to IU and more so than we did Winston. I want to know what changed in that little scenario because I believe if we pursued him again that this Winston thing wouldn't be an issue and LSU wouldn't have a stud qb going their way.

but Winston at the moment is not a need but more of a luxury like Goldman for us.... it is not a sure thing Sims leaves.... I think he stays.....

and yes there is a reason Bama is still recruitimh him, he is a kid you don't take so keep recruiting him......

I have wondered that as well......

Not really sure. The whole thing was pretty bizarre. All I can think is that over the course of the time following Kiel's commitment to Indiana, Saban came to the conclusion that Winston was clearly the superior prospect. Since our pursuit of Kiel the first time basically cost us Winston, maybe Saban decided to go all-or-nothing with Winston.

Personally, I'd rather have Kiel as I am not fond of the idea of our QB spending half the year playing baseball. I'm of the opinion that he is going to end up never reaching his potential in either sport if he insists on having it both ways.

    Don't they have 24 already

Yes we have 24 right now, but one of those is Gladney, who most people say will have to go JUCO because of grades. Theres also a few rumors of a few lower rated recruits looking around at other places. Apparently we can back count 3 from last years class of only 22 signed. There's also a few that might be grey shirted. (Justin Taylor because of his recent knee injury). So there's more room than it looks. There's somewhere between 4-7 more spots left if we need them.

You were jumping all over brandon21mnc for just posting what Geno Smith thought Alabama would end with. He then tells you repeatedly that he's just posting what another recruit said and he had no idea if Winston would flip or not and you continued to do your best "UH-UH" impression. The thread isn't that far down the page.

    His reading comprehension obviously sucks.

it did suck losing Taylor, but he had a change in heart of position, Bama offered him that chance....

all 3 of these recruitments are not the same..... do they have things in common as being recruited by Bama sure....

needs are different as Bama does not need another QB, Bama was taking 2 RBs this class, and DT was a need for Bama, not so much for FSU.....

and before you bring up Goldman and FSU that is more of a luxury for us, not a need.... that is why we wanted Taylor as a olineman.....

Going into this season, our coaches were set on taking 2 QB's this class. After Kiel committed to Indiana and Winston committed to FSU, we moved on to Alec Morris. After taking his commitment, I believe our staff decided that it would be best if we go after 2 QB's in next years class. Apparently, some things have changed and they would like to add another QB now. If we don't land Winston then we will be signing 2 QB's next year.

It has to do with the fact that we heard the same "He has said multiple times he is firm, bammers" from Auburn fans and reporters about Yeldon as we are currently hearing now about Winston.

That's such dumb logic. Exception does not equal rule.

Jones, and whoever else they want to add --- it will be the greatest recruiting class of all time.

    We don't have room, IMO...

    We definetely won't get Ward

Feel pretty confident in Jones and Jenkins

    Feel better about Collins lately

Winston... who cares. If he wants to come to home state school and represent I'll be glad. But at this point I'll beleive it when I see LOI.

Goldman will be more NFL ready going through BAMA... 50/50

If we could close with Jones, Jenkins it will be one of the strongest classes I can remember. Collins would be a huge steal and bonus. Add Winston and/or Goldman too would make best of all time. IMO

  • I'd be interested to hear the Alabama staff's response to Winston when he asks about the offensive coordinator, and their history of developing NFL QB's when compared to Jimbo Fisher...

Even the backups Jimbo coached are setting records in the NFL...blank
