Still think the dude is an extreme badass but the current media effort, regurgitated by message boarders, building him up to be Zeus himself is way off base. USCe had an elite DE off the other side and JC still had like 12.5 sacks. Is he really good or effing spectacular. Im leaning towards really good still.
Some dude's helmet popping off does not a prospect make.

Yes he would, IMO..
UNLESS a big time QB breaks out.. QB will always win if they're good enough

I agree with some of this, but if he shows up at the combine next year... measures a legit 6'5" or 6'6" and 270 while running 4.5's then god damn, that would make him one of the best DE prospects I have ever seen, if not the best

Only way I see him not being one is if a franchise QB emerges this year. And not a little Manziel type... a real 6'3"+, can't miss guy like Luck.
I fully expect Clowney to toil in obscurity in Jacksonville.

He's a stud, but he's getting a litte too much hype right now IMO.
Also the odds he goes #1 aren't fantastic. If Bridgewater has the year many are expecting, odds are he will be the first selection. #1 in the draft hardly ever goes to a DE. Usually crappy teams need a franchise QB, and Bridgewater or another QB will be taken ahead of Clowney despite not being a better prospect.

He is playing so I am not going there, but he should be the best player in the draft. Not knowing who is QB hungry a year from now is hard to say if he is #1 for sure though.
IMO, the 2 best players in the draft next year will be Clowney and Kuoandijo, but a QB could still be the top pick though based on needs.

He had mad hype before he played a snap of college.. His size and speed are scary, he's going to be one of the great ones.
Maybe I was a little hard on fsufsu but Clowney blows me away, kid is one of the most special players i've ever seen

Compared him to a USC DE? Never happened, waste someone else's time. Mriderblue got the point, Clowney was viewed as "really really good" and then he gets a well time, overhyped highlight play and ESPN goes into HYPEMODE2013. It's ridiculous. Just like your responses.

I'm pretty sure Clowney had a ton of hype before "the hit." He's pretty much been in the limelight since high school. Only kid who might get picked at #1 over JC is Bridgewater, but I still think Clowney goes #1 if he plays or not. He's going to play though so it's a moot issue.
