Maybe, maybe not. Looking at their schedule, I think they got there because they were undefeated, and because at the time they played awburn the blowout seemed somewhat impressive. Then, when we found out how bad auburn was, they didn't get retroactively penalized for it. I'm having a hard time coming up with a good analogy, but let's say they were in the B12 and they beat Texas badly in the 2nd game. Then went undefeated through 7 games against the sisters of the poor. Yes, they'd be ranked the same, even if Texas ended up 1-7. These things work themselves out though. Bama, Tamu, LSU have/will all work them over and they'll finish low or unranked. Similarly to if they'd been in the B12, done the same thing, then got worked by OU, TTech, and KState to close the year.

Valid point. I remember last year when Texas A & M was a wet fart at an Indian restaurant, now they are filet mignon.

When the last 7 BCS champions come from your conference, you tend to get the benefit of the doubt as far as your schedule goes. I've been trying to tell people that's why silly "conference pride" has merit.
