Bowl games should never be the barometer of anything unless the game has meaning like the MNC. I can't wait for the playoff system to start, pretty soon all the bowls will go away.
My suggestion is to move all the bowl games to first week of the season on labor day weekend, allowing fans to travel to new cities and play teams they normally would not play. These types of situations would create a more meaningful and better gauge of conference strength.
