If Oregon and KSU finish undefeated...

  • And lets be honest, ND is going to lose and the ACC and Big 10 are so sh!tty that all of their squads have already been eliminated from contention. Who plays the SEC champ for the crystal ball? I say Oregon just because KSU backed out of playing Oregon this season. What say you?

Both are pretenders, both will be exposed eventually

If one does make it and plays Bama they will get murdered

  • Better to be exposed in a title game against a juggernaut like Bama than be exposed @ NC State.

  • Damn, this year would be PERFECT for the mini playoff format that we will have next season

I disagree, I would much rather lose a game to NC ST and know what my team is than to have false hopes and have your dreams crushed for all the marbles

Meh, we won a rose bowl last year. There wouldn't be much satisfaction in beating up on whatever B!G team ends up there this season. It's an all or nothing season at this point. We've been on both ends of the spectrum. In 2001 a fluke loss to the nerds from furd kept us from going to the title game and losing to Miami. Ended up winning the Fiesta Bowl. I'd take another 2010 before another 2001 season. At least that way the season is a week or two longer.

I feel KSU would give the SEC champ the most fits. They play tough disciplined football and have a good QB (mayb great college QB). I don't know how KSU's defense would stand up to 4 qtrs of pounding from the likes of Bama's running game.

I don't feel like Oregon or any other spread/finesse team could consistently give the SEC champ a game. LSU would struggle due to their injuries on the D-line (depth plays a key role when playing those fast paced teams). I don't know the status of their injured DL for the year, but you need to have a solid 2-deep on the DL to play Oregon (or punish them with 3-5 yd runs to rest your D). I have little doubt that barring some freak plays early that force their hand, any of the SEC potential champs would punish the Oregon D and most others.

Do you really think if Oregon and Kansas state played that Kansas State would have a chance in hell? It would be over halfway through the second like every other game.

Bama on the other hand would mop the floor with us, imo

  • Oregon better overall team, K state better overall resume. I would tell K state to kick rocks due to the fact that they backed out against Oregon. There has to be consequences to backing out of these ooc games.

  • Here's a more fun, albeit far less likely hypothetical. Let's say K-State, Oregon, and ND all win out. Let's also say that LSU beats Alabama in Baton Rouge, wins the SEC West, and then redeems themselves against Florida in the SEC championship game. So we'd have the following lineup of teams making their case to be in the championship game:

K-State: 12-0, Big 12 Champion, ranked wins over Oklahoma, WVU, Texas Tech, and Texas
Oregon: 13-0, Pac-12 Champion, ranked wins over USC, Oregon State, and USC again
Notre Dame: 12-0, ranked wins over Michigan, Oklahoma, and USC
LSU: 12-1, SEC Champion, ranked wins over South Carolina, Texas A&M, Alabama, Mississippi State, and Florida, loss to Florida
Florida: 12-1, SEC East winner, ranked wins over LSU, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida State, loss to LSU
Alabama: 11-1, ranked wins over Michigan, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M, loss to LSU

and then other teams just trying to get into the BCS (for the sake of argument, no disrespect intended to Wisconsin, Clemson, Louisville, or any other contenders I left out here)

    Michigan: 10-3 or 11-2, B1G Champion
    Florida State: 11-2, ACC Champion
Rutgers: between 12-0 and 10-2, Big East Champion
Oregon State: 11-1, win over Wisconsin, loss to Oregon
Oklahoma: 11-1, win over Texas and WVU, loss to Notre Dame
Clemson: 10-2, win over no one, losses to Florida State and South Carolina

Who gets into the NCG, how do the rest of the bowls shake out, and which teams with resumes that would be strong enough just about any other year get relegated to wither around in the Cotton/Capital One/whatever bowl?

    edit:
here's what I think would happen in ^^ scenario
    NCG: LSU v. Oregon
    Rose: Michigan v. Oklahoma
    Sugar: Alabama v. Notre Dame
    Fiesta: K-State v. Clemson
    Orange: Florida State v. Rutgers

and what I think should happen
    NCG: LSU v. K-State
    Fiesta: Oklahoma v. Florida
Sugar: Notre Dame v. Oregon State
    Orange: Florida State v. Rutgers
    Rose: Michigan v. Oregon

weirdly, I think I like the "would" matchups better

edit: and maybe best of all, how would you seed this if there were a 4 or 8 team playoff?

K state would have an outstanding chance due to bill snyder. I do agree that overall Oregon is the more talented team.

    ^^This.

and I still can't believe people fall for the October trap of writing certain team as going undefeated. At this point last year, we had something like 10 undefeated teams. The only one that finished undefeated was LSU. Plenty of football left...I doubt Oregon or KSU go unbeaten this year.

  • The funny thing about it now is that Oregon and KSU were supposed to play this year, but KSU pulled out. Hence having to schedule Tennessee Tech.

The thing for us is were going to have to beat USC twice, I'm assuming. First on November 3rd at the Coliseum and then the PAC-12 Championship. Cal and Stanford don't really worry me too much, the Civil War could be interesting with the Beavs undefeated right now though.

  • Kansas St. desperately needs Texas to win out. Otherwise Oregon's end of the season win over USC will likely keep them in the #2 spot. However, voters could decide they want to see Coach Snyder in Miami and push them past Oregon in the polls.

I never said how KSU would do against OU. I just know that barring some freak plays/injuries it takes a team like KSU to beat Bama. You have to able to run the ball (avg 4 ypc or better) and avoid passing too much (22 PAs per game is the magic number). The only games Bama has lost in the last 4 years, the winning teams average 4 ypc and passed less than 22 times. They also had 0 turnovers. In short you have to beat Bama at their game (win the trenches and don't screw up). Other than SEC teams (UF/LSU), the only team that I see that could do that is KSU. I don't know if KSU has enough speed to keep the Ducks in check, but I do know that they play good fundamental football and have a QB with moxy, thus on a given night they could challenge Bama.

  • Bill Snyder is known for taking on only cupcakes during the non-conference matchups. I would enjoy seeing Oregon vs KSU to determine whoever will play the SEC champion.

  • Oregon does not compete until they get at least six deep in THE Conference.....they have zero speed advantage and the hurry up fizzles against three deep "D-Lines"....MSU takes it to em.....KSU maybe four but prolly five deep as well before its a game....none produce against the first four D's in THE Conference.......Those gimmick offenses are just offensive in THE Conference......

  • Oregon, beating SC (assuming they don’t lose again) twice should give them the nod over KSU. TBH I would much rather see Oregon play Bama. I’ve always been a fan of Snyder, and Klein is probably my favorite CFB player playing right now but I don’t think Bama would have any problems stopping KSU’s O. It would be a blowout IMO. At least Oregon would have a chance with their speed.

    Your post makes no sense.

KSU plays a ball control offense heavy on the run. Their defense is as fundamentally sound as they come, and never makes mistakes. Oregon is a quick strike offense, or what you call a "gimmick" offense. Two totally different offenses, yet for some reason you think they are the same...

Have you even watched KSU this season?
