If Trayvon had killed Zimmerman, should he be arrested?

  • I know we've discussed this to death but I thought think this is interesting.

-Zimmerman spied on TM and then followed him on foot (maybe not illegal but definitly spooky)
-TM was apparantly afraid as he ran away
-TM was likely headed home as the confrontation happened off the main road and the path was a direct line to where TM was staying. Photo attached
-According to the policeman, Zimmerman never told TM who he was. The two were arguing loudly, so loud that the neighbors began to call the police.
    IMPORTANT
--If Trayvon Martin saw the gun before the fighting began, would that justify him feeling that he was in danger? According to GZ's dad, TM saw the gun before he decided to hit Zimmerman (this is zimmerman's side of the story). Prosecution may contend that Zimmerman struck Martin first but who knows?

When you combine the events of the night, is it possible/likely/impossible that TM felt his life was in danger? If so, can you stand your ground against someone that standing his ground?

  • If someone is tailing me, doesn't identify themselves, and I see a gun on them, I'm either going to try to beat their ass or haul ass (depending on how big they are imo).

  • This is how I feel about all of this. If a black guy was in a community watch program and saw a white kid walking around his neighborhood (something he's not used to seeing) and approached the white kid, fight ensues, and black guy kills white kid.

Would we still be talking about this? Would anyone even consider defending the black guy who, despite his motives and whatever your opinion of them may be, murdered an innocent child? Absolutely not. He'd be arrested immediately and people wouldn't think twice about it.

America, racism is still alive and well.

Yea, I feel the racism every time I apply for a job. I'm white, BTW.

LOL at the old reverse racism example.

If it weren't for Affirmative Action, people like me wouldnt be considered for a lot of jobs. It's a necessary measure and it does hurt you but honestly shut the hell up if you think that you as a white male has it so tough in America.

  • Don't bite. OP already believes Zimmerman is a murderous scumbag and has no intention of discussing this topic, only arguing with anyone who doesn't believe Trayvon was murdered in premeditated cold blood while ignoring any contradictory information.

I never said zimmerman was a scumbag. He was doing what he thought was right.

I don't think martin is a thug and I dont think zimmerman is racist. I do feel that zimmerman provoked the situation and should bert tried for manslaughter.

I also believe that you are hilariously insane.

    ReasonableDoubt

  • I think it would have been reasonable for Trayvon to say he feared for his life. Zimmerman was armed, and following him.

The problem I have with these discussions is none of us knows what happened yet we feel compelled to offer an opinion.

Pretty much. And those who've taken one side or the other disregard anything that conflicts with their predetermined illusions of what happened.

  • Since Zimmerman did nothing illegal, then no. He had a permit for his gun and it is not against the law to confront and question someone in a public place. I would have probably jacked him in the face too, but if I ended uo killing the man then I would definitely go to jail. Really stupid question OP

Lol. You really are crazy. Youre a zimmerman guy, lets not kid ourselves. You jump in every person they even infers that zimmerman did anything wrong and hyperbolize their pov.
Others call martin a drugged out thug and you agree.

    But still....

Would it be reasonable for martin to feel that his life was in danger?

Maybe. But it's not reasonable to resort to killing someone before they have even acted. If he was waving his gun around threatening to kill TM, then yes, he would have a point. But a neighborhood watch guard with a concealed weapons permit questioning a kid in a public place does not give TM any reason at all to even attack him let alone kill him. I mean, I can't believe this has to be said.

Zimmerman didn't have to do anything illegal top make martin feel that his life was in danger. Trayvon didn't do anything illegal either.

-According to zimmerman's dad, martin saw the gun before the fight
-Martin didn't know he was neighborhood watch
-Youre assuming that trayvon struck first but that isn't a fact. It's just as likely that zimmerman actually pushed martin first, but we don't know either way.
