If You Are The PAC 12

  • The PAC will stay at 12 rather than take any of the current "options". Can't see them overcoming their academic and cultural snobbery to take any of BSU, BYU, Fresno State, SD State et al.

Blows for my school, dunnit? Sigh.

It is what it is. shrug

Hey, I think that's more on the schools up north. I can remember (rather, read) when they didn't want USC because of academics...we showed them!

    What school do you represent?

ND will not join the PAC lol

They don't need to, they will not dump USC or Stanford on their schedule...so who cares if they won't join the conference? It was a silly suggestion, and impractical for them to consider.

Fresno State...sorry, should have looked a little closer.

Honestly, the opposition would be more from the northern schools. Godless people. biggrin

f*cking Oregon. Still haven't forgiven them for buying out those refs in 05...that was a BS call.

BYU, UNLV, Boise State, New Mexico

I think we have to be thinking tv markets for any more moves for the PAC. BYU is solid,UNLV good market, Boise? meh no, but they may move national/regional tv meters similar to the way WVU does so they may have more appeal than I think. San Diego State has a great tv market plus that Cali recruiting base to be a good watch sooner rather than later so maybe them? New Mexico is interesting.

The states where those schools are growing faster than any other region in the country. So I've read.

Fresno would be a good addition, would prolly propel them back to significance like in 05. Hate i didn't get to make the trip to the valley last year btw, just too far to travel

I was there...swore I wouldn't go to another game until Hill was canned.

Lolz....check out our '14 OOC schedule. It's brutal for a non-AQ, and we'll be breaking in a new QB (Carr is a junior right now).

And it's even more glaring cuz '13's schedule is pure cupcake.

  • The PAC doesn't have many good options unless they allow Texas to keep the LHN. BYU makes a lot of sense but they don't want religous schools(?). Hawaii would be good but is it worth the travel?

    Hawaii's facilities are an embarrassment.

Only football locker rooms, and they're building a new complex as we speak.

For every other sport I'm pretty sure they have FSUw out-gunned.

No Texas...they're conference killers, and we all share..not a good cultural mix for them or us. As far as religious schools...don't think for a moment that the schools up north would not jump on accepting Notre Dame if there was any way in hell for it to happen. I think the difference is...they would block the ultra conservative religious schools. Moron, Southern Baptist..etc.

We love the Hawaii trip, our fans show up there, and they love having us...or, our money rather. The California schools have never depended on football to fund anything, the money is there to do as we wish - Cal has simply not chosen to spend much on football or athletics above their academics.

Washington State is the school that really benefited by the new contract. Good for them.

And? So was USC's till recently...yet, highly ranked players still came to SC.

There are other issues preventing Hawaii from building a strong CFB program...location has a lot to do with it, and all round funding.

  • Not sure where the Pac 12 would go as far as schools because the options are very underwhelming based on their current wants and criteria as far as facilities and academics. That said, the snooty attitude they have towards these smaller schools is gonna have to subside or they're gonna just get totally broken apart as the powers start to align together. Not entirely the Pac 12s fault in this whole expansion mess as I don't think all the leagues really have thought big picture on a ntional level. So far all the conferences are looking out for "me,me, me" instead of thinking about the long term national landscape. It's gonna come down to 4 "superconferences" down the line that are purely regional and rival based which means the Pac 12 as currently constructed will no longer exist. Probably looking at 4 12-16 team conferences with some schools being away from some of the schools they're used to playing. That means schools like Texas, Oklahoma and schools considered southwest will end up in the "western" superconference purely out of necessity. The bigger question and scenario for me is which schools get left out of the shift to superconferences. Schools on the borderline better start aligning their friends and lobbying for inclusion. Gonna be some pissed off schools with hurt feelings down the road.

    This is true.

They've had terrible leadership in their administration since 2007.

The location thing is money, costs them too much to travel all of the time in every sport.

They can recruit though, lots of local talent and draw from CA when they're good. Even with how bad they are right now they're going to have the best recruiting class in the MWC.

Everyone's favorite FB trip, lol. At least, the second most favorite (arguably the Notre Dame trip, since we all stay in Chicago - and we take over the city) The university extends the stay as long as possible at Hawaii so the players and the band enjoy a day there after the game.

  • Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma & Oklahoma St.

9 game conference schedule with 7 divisional opponents and 2 rotating opponents. Conference championship at a rotating location, for example: Dallas, Denver, L.A., Seattle.

Pacific: Oregon, Oregon St., Washington, Washington St., Cal, Stanford, USC & UCLA

West: Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Arizona St., Texas*, Texas Tech, Oklahoma & Oklahoma St.

*If Texas and the rest of the potential PAC 16 couldn't come to terms, I think they would just take TCU and, based on the markets they would have access to, not worry about bringing Texas along.

No question. They beat Oregon twice in a home and home, ASU, and now U-dub.

Would love to poach Coach Petersen in a couple of years.

Yep they also blew the doors off of the SECe champ last year.

They'd do fine in any conference.

It's never been about Boise's ability to compete in the PAC athletically. The main reason they would not be acceptable to the university presidents in the conference is already covered on this thread.

Nobody in the B12 will leave due to the Grant of Rights on their TV deal. Pac 12 missed their chance to add Texas, OU, OkSt, etc a few years back -- prior to GOR being signed. B12 also signed an annual bowl agreement with the SEC in Sugar Bowl.

OU, OKST, Texas are 'all in' for B12. They are concentrated on getting the best from ACC - FSU, Clemson, Miami, UL, GT, Pitt, SU. These schools fit well with B12's new toy, WVU. Don't be surprised if B12 goes for BYU.

Pac12's best options will be BYU (national fanbase), Nevada, New Mexico, Boise, Air Force, SDST, Fresno St...maybe SMU or Houston to get into Texas w/ non B12 schools. EDIT - Added UTEP.

The PAC12 presidents will need to bend. Already lost out on the Texas schools. BYU is a no-brainer.
