If you could change 1 play in history ....

  • You wanna see Oregon's?

    Play

BCS National Championship Play of the Game...

Cam Newton hands off to Michael Dyer...who appears to be down at the 46, but he gets up and continues running all the way to the Oregon 23. After an offical review, it was determined that Dyer's knee never touched the ground. This play would set up Auburn's game winning field goal.

For Oregon you should have posted the play where Cam Newton gets sacked, fumbles and Oregon has a clear path for a TD, only for the ref to say Newton was down. That's the play that cost them the game.

    Play

OREGON VS. AUBURN - When is a player "down"?

Here's the link to Werner Tautz' music at iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/werner-tautz/id212954253?uo=4 Michael Dyer's tackle in the 4th quarter of the BCS National Championship was an extremely close call, but the refs allowed it to continue before blowing it "dead" - and then it was reviewed via instant replay. Meanwhile, Cam Newton was sacked in the 1st quarter and clearly fumbles - but the referees blow the play "dead" immediately and there was NO review of the play at all?!

  • I asked my father this question and he reminded me of the "Punt, bama, punt" game which he was in attendance at.

Personally for me it would have had to either be Brady coming back on us during that Orange Bowl (more of a drive than a play); or Trent Richardson dropping that easy touchdown in the 2010 Iron Bowl. He catches that ball and AU's national championship hopes would have never happened. No matter how good Cam was, he wouldn't have come back from that.

  • Matt Flynn hit Demetrius Byrd on a last second touchdown pass to lift LSU over AU. Jerraud Powers is in perfect position, but never gets his head around to find the ball. I know Powers wishes he had that one back.

  • !998 Michigan State punting out of their own end zone already down by 19 points. A short punt that would have given the Buckeyes great field position hit Nate Clements in the back, Sparty recovered and momentum swung becoming a huge snowball ending OSU's quest for the National Championship. That team was loaded at every position. The big orange "T" on the side of Tennessee's helmet was short for "Thank God we didn't have to play the Buckeyes".

That was definitely OSU's best team during the BCS era.

Easily 2006 OSU. Shawn Crable's hit to the head. Would've won that game if he didn't commit that penalty.

Other plays of note would be last year's last play against Iowa, as we would have gone to the Big Ten Championship Game if we scored. Also every time we ran the ball straight up the middle this year against OSU.

That's a pretty strong assumption, since Michigan was still down by 4 when that happened. The game would've been at best a toss up, so I don't know how you could say Michigan would have won the game if that didn't happen.

Mine would be Roy Hall jumping on Ted Ginn on the opening kickoff return in the 06 NC and breaking his foot. I doubt it would have affected a 27 point beat down, but I'm just curious to see if it would have made any difference. He was the only receiver on that team that demanded safety help.

We had all the momentum and I have no doubt we would have won that game.

  • Mark Ingram's fumble in the 2010 Iron bowl - yes, i know, Cam was superman, but Ingram scores there, and that's one more he has to overcome which pushes the odds up to Bama's favor.

Yep that one as well in that game. That play and Trent dropping that pillow in the end zone were two huge one's in that game. Barron getting burned on that deep pass as well.

I still haven't gotten over losing that game even after winning the natty last year.

It would be keeping Beanie Wells in the game against Youngstown State while we were up by 30... on a routine go-line dive his toe gets snipered by a phantom... he would sitout the next week @ USC.

Not saying he would have changed the outcome of that game.. but he had the best stiff arm in college football at the time and it was a tragedy he couldnt be full strength his senior year.

i think you need to try again. usc beatdown osu 35-3 and beanie wells would not have made a difference with rey malaluga, clay matthews and brian cushing roaming around back there

i specifically stated that it wouldnt change the outcome of the game and i was more disappointed my favorite player was hurt on a meaningless play..

yes you are right.. no way a 1st round pick (even after being hurt his senior season) would have affect on a football game.. roflmao

    maybe you should try again..

I'm certainly no USC fan but he wouldn't have a 32 point affect on the game. I don't even know the game that he's talking about but if you lost 35-3, Jim Brown wouldn't have saved you.

I wouldn't say he would be the difference, but having a player like that changes the whole complexion of the game. It is correct to say that Wells would not have scored 5 TDs probably on his own, but he probably makes the passing game more effective and extends a handful of drives to change field position and give USC less touches.

I still think that USC team was better, but losing a player like that hurts more than just losing the production he would provide.

I get what your saying, but that is one hell of a complexion. I think you know I'm not saying that USC would have still scored 35 and Beanie would have had to make the 32 point difference single handedly.

I'm saying that if we didn't have Eddie Lacy against Ole Miss would it have really changed the outcome? 32 points is a straight ass whipping and a RB isn't going to change the outcome of a game "that" much.

  • 2010 when Wisconsin's punter Brad Nortman ran for 17 yards on 4th down when Iowa could have gotten the ball back and secured the win. Iowa hasn't been the same team since that game.

Look forward to seeing your answers.

    Keith/ @Niebuhr247

Mark Ingram's fumble in the 2010 Iron Bowl that was poked out from behind and rolled down the sideline for 20 yds into and out of the endzone, resulting in a touchback for AU.

We would have more than likely scored something on that drive and probably wouldn't have lost, and that woulda been the end to that Cammy Cam shite!

I would change a play for the Yankees though, mike mussina deserved that perfect game in 01'. Fucking Carl Everett.
