If you were a recruit

  • where would you go play at? Excluding your homer school. No doubt in my mind im heading to the coast and USC. Has everything a young man needs except for Lane. Second would be Texas

For sure bro. It is a tough call. Cali or Florida. I'd have to get drunk & sleep on it.

  • Here is a copy of a post I made on VotH back in July that discusses something similar:

First off, proximity to home wouldn't make a difference to me. Here are the things that would be most important to me:

Academics: Is it a good school and would I be allowed to be a "student-athlete"?

Coaching consistency: Am I going to play for 3 different coordinators in my 5 years?

Geography: Namely how close the school is to a major metroplex? Iowa City is almost too small for me. Ames definitely is.

Winning: 6-6 is as bad as I want to be.

Player development: Will I be a better player when I'm 23 than I was when I was 18? If they can develop my talent, then I can hopefully start. Maybe if they develop me well enough I can play in the NFL even if I'm not a starter, like Clay Matthews or Felix Jones.

Ethics: Will my 9-3 team be ineligible to play in a bowl? If my team wins the conference title, will that get wiped off the books in five years? If so, count me out.

Other than Iowa, I think Northwestern, Stanford, Cal, and maybe Texas or Colorado would be among my leaders. [After spending almost a year living in Waco, I would definitely consider Baylor, though the ethics side of their athletic department isn't great. I also think Michigan would be worth a visit.]

  • LSU. Program will get you ready for the NFL, Baton Rouge is a party and you are within close proximity to New Orleans for an even bigger party.

  • 1. Miami always loved them since Sean Taylor R.I.P. And Portis days. Big U fan growing up.

    2. LSU love their colors swag.

    3. Florida Gators the girls and getting a chance to play FSU.

    4. Last one is a shocker. Southern University. Their band gets hype. It's time African American athletes go back to hbc's.

Wow okay, but I wasn't aware that African American athletes ever left the HBCUs? shrug

~95% of the people and kids that I know at HBCUs are AA and they love it. Nothing wrong with HBCUs and caliber of athletes coming out these institutions.

I am thinking USC, LSU & Texas. Would love to be close to New Orleans as that would be simply bananas!
Couldn't imagine being 18 and camped out in Miami. I don't think that I would be a student athlete for long.........

Youpeace know what i mean , i mean to top level AA athletes. Well that's never going to happen like the 4 or 5 star kids.
but if your high 2 star kid .or lower level 3 star kid. why not go Howard, Southern or Hampton. Yes LSU is great love their tradition its the closest thing to going to HBCU out there. rockon

I get down voted for speaking the truth. About 2 star lower level 3 star athletes should go to HBCU.S. perfect example. Maryland my school had a DT , ge t got no playing time, he went to hampton. guess what he wil lbe a drafted player or atleast get a free agent look. If he would have stayed at a Div 1 school he wouldnt have got the playing time.
alot of times Div1 schools close up their classes with kids i call"scout practice players " guys that will neve rstart ever at that school. but have alot of skills. Am saying if your one of those kids why not just go to Southern , or Hampton, or B cookman or something. And play all 4 years, get a ton of playing time and learn about where you came from.
